I haven't hit a deer, yet, with my Wrangler but I did get to drive through a tar spill on a nearby road when a tar delivery truck failed to fully close the tank valve. Had about 1,200 miles on the Wrangler at the time.

Funny thing is, I thought I had mostly missed the tar which was leaked in the middle portion of the road for over 8 miles. Took the Jeep to the dealership to have protective film installed and when I was outside checking out a Wrangler 392 that had just showed up the service writer called my phone.

You must have been on Cliff Road today he asked me. Apparently I wasn't the only vehicle with tar damage. There was tar dripping off the right side of my vehicle onto the showroom floor where it as getting the film installed. BUMMER.

I ended up getting 4 new tires paid by the trucking companies insurance company. It was hard to find any detail company that I felt could properly remove the tar without causing further damage so I purchased a bunch of tar removal chemicals and did the work myself. I was compensated for the chemicals and the time I spent working on it.

That’s actually my biggest concern is paint matching. Do replacement hoods not come painted? Only other accident I’ve had was when I was 17 and smoked my accord through a telephone at 70. Needless to say the car was gone but was far from concern. I’m kinda clueless as to how it will play out with the Jeep. I was wondering if I’d be able to go aftermarket on fenders and maybe have Geico cover it some how. Anyone have experience in that area and can offer input?
my Snazzberry JL got hit by a town plow while parked last winter. Shop was concerned about the color match But it came out great

My daughter once tried to convince a stray german shepherd to get into the passenger side until she saw it was a coyote. Never hit a deer yet.

The 3 deer I have hit all left hair which was the proof the adjuster was looking for.

This happened to me in my Suburban. Luckily the deer ran off, but the hoof went through my grill. Cost me $500, and insurance about $2000.

Around here, there are plenty of deer, and most of the hits I have seen have not been front end hits. These stupid deer will run from the side of the road, at the last second, and slam into the side of the cars/trucks. A few end up inside the low slung cars.

I once hit a deer as I was pedaling to work at around 18-20 mph early in the morning before sunrise. Although I had a decent headlight, the damn thing jumped out right in front of me and I didn't have even a second to react before I smacked into its right rear area. The deer ran off and my bicycle and I continued sliding down the asphalt road another 15-20 ft. The bike went one way and I went another.

Lots of road rash, no major bleeding and after I examined my bike to see if it was still rideable I got back on and pedaled the remaining 7 miles to work instead of the 18 miles back home.

Once I got to work and got off the bike I discovered that I could barely walk. I am guessing that I did the splits when I crashed and pulled a groin muscle. I managed to hop on one leg into the building to the time clock because I still wasn't late. I called my wife a few hours later to come pick me up because the growing pain was too much to be able to perform my work duties.

I now have more sympathy for hockey players when I hear about one pulling a groin muscle and they're out for several weeks. I was hobbling around for several weeks after that and the guys at work nicknamed me Festus.

Ditto. He was trying to shove a broom stick in your spokes. Had he succeeded...
So, glad you're OK.

About a week after my deer/bicycle encounter I was driving to work and on that same road and close to the same spot I looked over and saw a dead deer in the field. I doubt it was the same one but I yelled, "Ha! Serves you right!" Made me feel better anyway. Apparently, that one jumped out in front of something a bit heavier than a 23 lb bicycle.

A buddy of mine hit a deer head on. The front end was totaled. Killed the deer instantly, A Ranger showed up at the scene, took a report, and started to put the deer in the back of his truck. My friend said , "Hey, is that deer not mine?" The Ranger replied it wasn't deer season yet. I'd like to think the deer was donated to a nearby orphanage or something. Yaaah, right.

There's an exotic feline rescue center not too far from where I live. They get the road kill that the county picks up along the roads and that helps them with the cost of feeding a couple hundred tigers and bobcats and lions and such.
