Swaybar in 2wd

Is the only way to electronically disconnect the sway bar in 2wd with the Tazer?

for trails/dirt roads that are rough but dont require 4wd. Many many times I haven't needed 4wd but an unhooked sway bar would have been nice.

Yes, only with a tazer. Unless you go into 4H/4L and disconnect the sway bar and crawl under the jeep and unplug the sway bar motor connector and then go back in the jeep and go into 2H and drive with dash errors.

I agree with this. It’s for comfort. The Jeep stays more level on rough dirt roads when bar is disconnected, rather than twisting left and right with the terrain and the people inside being bobbleheads.

I thought I read somewhere there is a speed limit to this? Like 30mph? Do you know if this is true?
Really I guess as long as its 30mph, it doesn't really matter. If Im going faster than 30 I'll probably want the sway bar hooked back up anyway.

That is true, but partially.

The sway bar on a stock JL can be disconnected when in four wheel drive. It will stay disconnected up to 18mph, at which point it will automatically reconnect and then disconnect again when you come to a stop, until you push the Sway Bar button to permanently reconnect.

The sway bar on a JL with a tazer can be disconnected in both 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. The speed at which the sway bar reconnects is increased to 30mph.

This speed limit can be completely bypassed if “SwayKill” is set as one of the tazer shortcuts and is then pressed and activated. When “SwayKill” is activated through the shortcut, the sway bar will stay disconnected at any speed. It will reconnect when the “SwayKill” shortcut is pressed again, or when the Sway Bar button is pressed or when the Jeep is turned off.

Yes when disconnecting the swaybar in 2wd or 4hi the sway bar will reconnect after 30mph. I have also not had any luck with disconnecting in 2wd with the Tazer until recently! I normally have to go to 4hi and disconnect then go back to 2hi, but after 30mph it reconnects. Now until yesterday I had never used the Tazer quick access buttons. I remapped the 3 buttons to kill swaybar, Traction Control and Winch mode/Axle lock. I will say that I can use the remapped button to kill the swaybar and it will stay disconnected at any speed until reconnected by the user! I will also say I borrowed a friends OBDII reader and used the JSCAN app and in the app you can lock/unlock lockers and disconnect the swaybar. This something I didnt know was possible with the JSCAN app. There are a few and I mean very few things that the Tazer can do over the JSCAN but I am looking at the JSCAN setup and may use both. I like the ability to adjust things and make them permanent with the JSCAN vs the Tazer reseting to factory everytime I un-marrry it.

With the Tazer, I noticed you have to be stopped (in drive / not moving) to disconnect the sway bar with the stock button in 2H (same deal with the locker buttons). Can also vaguely remember getting a “you can’t do that” message in the center dash, but swaybar disconnects and lockers lock with the Tazer under the new parameters. Just have to be stopped. YMMV.

SWAYKILL with a shortcut button sounds like a better option. Annoying to have it constantly reconnecting and disconnecting.

I have noticed the same thing. I have to be stationary both to initiate sway bar disconnection and to lock the lockers. And when the sway bar reconnects after passing the speed limit, it won’t automatically disconnect again unless I come to a complete stop.

I’m sure there’s a reason why pushing the swaybar button won‘t completely defeat it from reconnecting at a certain speed.

I just installed the locker wiring harness and connected the front locker to aux4 today. The front sensor went out and was throwing a service axle locker warning anyway. Now I have complete control of the front locker and turned the front locker off via the tazer to eliminate the warning light. Win, win. I still can’t believe someone in the aftermarket isn’t selling that sensor yet as it’s a known failure point and changing out entire axles is ridiculous.

You can indeed lock only the front axle using a tazer. You can either do it from the settings, or you can set it as a shortcut and then press the shortcut.

You are saying JScan can disconnect sway bar in 2wd?
I already have JScan and pretty much the only reason I'd buy a Tazer is for sway bar.
