I made sure it was not going to snow here. Mounted a set of steelies and snows on the Jeep back in November. Spent a week up in Vermont and never took the Jeep. No snowfall. Honestly, for where I live, 2020 was the best year for skiing. Tons of snow and barely anyone at the slopes.

I did the same to my Jeep recently, and we've had not a flake of snow to show for my efforts.

Fingers crossed that Jan and/or Feb doesn't disappoint. I'm well-positioned for it. :)

This is my first winter with my Sport... I still have the basic Highway Tires and Steel Wheels on. I did buy a take off set of alloys and all terrains (Goodyears) and from what I've heard, they're not great on ice... I'm not concerned about snow or rain... most tires these days can handle that... it's the ice I'm worried about.

Anyway, we got our first snowstorm the other day... I get all excited. I leave it in 2WD, turn the traction control off, (I did spring for the limited slip differential), hit the gas and tried to make it slide... fucker didn't budge...

My Tiguan before this was a ton of fun in the snow... it had what was basically *on demand* AWD, but 90% off the power went to the front tires in normal conditions... and as much as 95% temporarily to the rear when it sense slippage. I had winter tires as well, and the thing was a beast in the snow... a snowstorm felt like a slight drizzle... but I could spin the rear out like a RWD car and then it would always catch itself before anything bad could happen... controlled sliding basically.

I'm happy that I can pretty much leave the Jeep in 2WD and not have to worry about buying a set of winter tires... but I'll miss the sliding around.
Snow is one thing … you may want to be a little more cautious on ice. In 2WD, even with snow tires, she can get a little ”tail-happy” if you hit the gas too hard.

LOL, actually here there is no elevation increase just mud holes and swamps. I'd like to play in the snow I just NEVER want to live where it is a common thing to deal with. And by that I mean cold weather in general.
I like Rocks, Mountains, Canyons and Creeks..

Standing by for the "But the headlights don't melt the snow" posts.
Yeah I noticed my LED lights were getting covered when it was getting dark as you can see with it parked in the garage. Any Idea's to fix it?

Just acknowledge it happens, stop so often, and brush it off.
I was thinking along the lines of a heat tape around the lamp housing that activates off an aux. switch or maybe the steering wheel heat..

Michelins and steelies here, also; no LSD though. A bit too much slippiness on this February day convinced me to go all in for some proper winter footwear.

Me too. I’m running studded Grabbers. Fantastic traction on snow and ice.

The current storm is burying central and eastern Oregon. The last estimate I heard was over 4 feet of new snow at pass level and close to six feet up top. The wind is making it miserable, as the snow blows off the banks and backfills too fast for the plows to keep up. Too much snow to take the grandkids tubing, but it should settle down by next weekend. Fingers crossed.

That is awesome! My son and I got out on Christmas day and New Years Eve. We used my air down tool, tow strap, winch, 4 high, 4 low, lockers, and the air compressor. We never had to use the Shovel. It was a good couple days. ?
