I got a squeak sound when the steering wheel is turned to right slightly and turned back, it typically happens when the car is warm, feels like it's from just behind the wheel, if I hold the steering column I can also feel it. No other function is affected but it's a little annoying when you adjust the wheel to center in lane. New JL with only 600 miles on. Has anybody notice similar noise?

Yep. I've got it too. Haven't explored it any farther though...

I think it’s something inside the wheel scratches another piece, the noise is louder when heated steering wheel is on, I guess something expands, when heated wheel is off the noise is subtle. The temp solution is to turn off heated wheel when it’s warm... Maybe it’s the clock spring.

Mine started yesterday. Consistentently going from 11:00 to 12:00 on the wheel. It's been cold the past few days, but it does it regarldess of the steering wheel heater being on. It's really obnoxious. Debating DIY or calling the dealer. 1155 miles.

Same. Haven’t really done any troubleshooting yet.

Mine seem to whine when I move the steering. Had it since I picked it up from the dealer. It sound like when one turns the wheel all the way to end and it starts this whining sound.

I went to dealers and asked about it, as none of the other cars I’ve owned made the sound.

He said they all do that because it’s using a electrical system to steer compared to the normal hydraulic system, say on a regular car.

Is this true? I’m no mechanic or know much about cars. But first vehicle which makes this sound.

Sorry for my late response here everyone! I wanted to ensure that you all have had this concern resolved. If not, please send our team a private message with more details so we can dig in further.

Just went on a 4 hour car trip, and this was very annoying and is moving up on my list of things I care enough about to do something.

Has anyone gotten resolution on this besides the one person who said the dealer greased something on the steering shaft?

Has anyone figured out what the problem is. Mine sounds like it is coming from right behind the steering wheel horn. I have a 2021 jeep wranger. This noise started at 4400 miles. And only happens when the steering wheel is turned in either direction. Thanks.

I narrowed it down to the shaft that goes down through the firewall. If you remove the kick plate directly below the steering wheel, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

There’s 1 or 2 joints right before it goes through the firewall. I just sprayed some lubricant on them and it seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks. I will try that.

What type of lube did you use? My steering wheel whines or has a whirring sound when turning the wheel. I just started to notice it.
