And don't get me started on the waving BS... It's a marketing ploy from Jeep that started after the Harley and Corvette guys found success with it.
That's where you're wrong, and he's right...

Been seeing Jeep waves since late 70's, always assumed it was more of a (returning) military thing.
The wave started during the war, where soldiers would wave to each other as they drive by, rather than saluting. Once the war was nearing its end, and Jeep started selling civilian jeeps (CJs), the majority of buyers were those who fought because they grew to love them during the war. They continued the wave on the streets as a sign of recognition/respect for fellow soldiers. More and more civilians then bought jeeps, and picked up on the wave.

Fast forward 75+ years, and although some feel it's dying off, or stupid, I feel it's still a tribute to the origin of our vehicles, respect for those that fought our wars back then, (and even though Jeep isn't fighting our battles now) respect for those who have fought since, and those who continue to fight.

Since Malls are a dying breed what do we call "mallcrawlers" in the future? Well, seems like Town Centers are quite popular - so TownCenterCrawler? Doesn't have quite the same ring to it.....

non-dirtcrawler... ?
Masculine mini van... was more fitting back when the JK/JKU had the same 3.8L Caravan motor :)

Absolutely! I had to go into 4 Lo because there was a puddle...
Speaking of 4Lo, I wonder how many Wranglers never get to see 4Lo :(

Thank you :like:

Also... on a weird side note, the Corvette is the illegitimate grandson of the CJ... I wish I kept the Philadelphia inquirer article (~20 years ago) explaining how.
Something about a engineer returning from the war (WWII), bought his wife a CJ-2A and changed the body to a fiberglass shell (thanks to a boat buddy) for a more socially acceptable appearance at country clubs.

I'm not sure how much off roading I'll do in my loaded rubicon, but if I want to use it as a planter in my front yard, I'll do it and be happy about it, because I bought it. The last thing I am is a snowflake, but there's a crap load of people on this forum that may have owned wranglers their whole life and never off roaded, and a lot of first time buyers that don't know whether they will eventually go off road but wanted the jeep experience. Whether that's heading to the mall or home depot with the dogs and kids and the top off, or driving to work with the top on, who the f*** really cares. There's other forums that pander to the off roading is king, f*** yeah dude, let's go deer jacking, everybody else ain't chit mentality. If people who buy jeeps and don't off road are such a source of humor to you, maybe you should go there. And you guys all started this before 6 am. Early risers and right to it! Good job!
haha! snowflake, lighten up, it's just humor.

I'll confess. My 2015 and 2017 never saw it. My 2011 did cuz I used it to yank a couple small trees out of the ground in front of the house. Was awesome! :)

seems a couple owners got a little triggered by a humorous thread. mixes things up a little, lighten up!

you might have a mall crawler if the following product is attractive to you:

Clearly this is a (successful) attempt at humor, but this would be amazingly useful as an actual product so long as it is sturdy enough to safely support the weight. More portable and lighter than heavy duty jack stands, no need for a jack, plenty of room to work underneath he body. I want a pair.

I don't think I'd be comfortable attempting to do any work under the vehicle on one of those, but... it does wonders for testing out suspension modifications and tire sizes. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these aftermarket developers have something like it in their shops.
