Well, loved my Jeep, but got tired of the problems.

Wanna do long range road trips without the headaches, might get an older 2 door project jeep at some point when c19 is gone... but for now, doomsday needs a roof :/

ya, gotta 4runner. part started getting wierd battery charging issues, on going steering etc (the usual JL stuff), and part wanting a roof again, before fire season. I have had to flee 2 of the last 3 years, doing it this year with corna and no roof and with the never sure if its gonna start thing.....

Maybe get an old TJ, and fix it up at some point. For now gonna go back to legendary reliability for my main on/offroader. I mostly kayak, hike and explore with 2 big dogs and wife so it meets my needs a bit better overall.

Anyone deal with death wobble here on a stock JL? My JLR got it probably 6-7 times on the way back from miller jeep trail last night. All stock, 11,500 miles, recall done at purchase. There's a slight mark on my steering stabilizer where if you run your finger over it, it feels pushed in a tiny, tiny bit on the cylinder, no fluids leaking. If I apply back-and-forth twisting force on the trackbar and steering link here's the absolute slightest amount of give that has been there from day 1 and I've observed others have with the stock components. Shocks aren't visibly leaking and the Jeep drives butter smooth on the highway all the way up to 85mph up until I hit a bump.

Everything else seems tight from a solo crawl under the jeep. was running 33psi on stock KO2s with about 40% tread left. I don't know where to start with this and would honestly rather just fix it myself or with the help of a local Jeeper or shop than have it sitting around in the dealer for weeks and weeks.

Been having so much fun with the rig, finally something comes down the road to mix it up.
Sorry, just got back.
I did. On my way back from Florida a few months back. When I hit over 50mph. Darn, with several hundred miles to get back, I took to the back roads, made it home in about 9 hours... under 50 was ok.
It took the dealership half an hour or less to fix, and have not had any problems since.
With me, too, it happened I think around 8-9000 miles.

Wow, Gary, sorry to hear that... but honestly, looks like you may have gotten a bad apple...

Probably, unfortunately bad apples are common in Fiat quality. The steering is under built, so a low yield is expected. I got it better, but i should not have to replace all the steering to drive in a straight line in an otherwise stock suspension.

but the no start stuff, and funny electrical/warning stuff was starting was final straw (ess warnings, funny vacuum feel on brakes, warnings its not charging fully). Fires burned down 100s of houses near me, I guess fire season has me a bit paranoid this year

In any event, I really enjoyed it for 2 years, and I am glad I tried it. To be fair a 2 door as a secondary vehicle probably works better for me (2 door competes with a boat in a garage Mr. Allen said.. he was right). An older one thats simple and free of start stop, fancy stuff, sounds appealing

I've a bunch of 4Runners in my neighborhood. They are a great platform. Hope it treats you better than the Jeep.

Hell yeah - I'll definitely give it a watch tonight. Jealous of the trip man, been dying to get into the sierras and beyond.

The eternal question, did you feel the 35s are adequate on your 2 door for the rubicon trail? I'm undecided right now trying to justify 35 KM3s and a few people are suggesting to just go right to 37s. I'm worried enough about twisting stock axle shafts, lots of unsprung weight and the extra cost of regearing and all that (though I know you twisted your axleshafts running 35s haha), my thinking is save the weight and money and keep the rig on 35s and let the short wheelbase do the work.

Trying to be able to run the rubicon at some point, but at the very least be able to tackle John Bull, Holcomb creek and dishpan without dragging real hard on everything.

ha, enough said! Just watched all three videos. looks like you guys had perfect wheeling weather. Some of those obstacles are gnarly but good driving by both you and Jenn. Does her JK have lockers?

My biggest obstacle to going is my only Jeep buddy in the area has a JLU Sahara that will probably not get the upgrades it needs this year to run a trail like that. Be awesome to get a socal JL group up there sometime. I'm looking at tires and a lift in the next couple months, so John Bull and dishpan will have to do for this summer.

Posted this shot in a few other threads, but here's mine up on miller jeep trail a couple weeks back, just about to roll 12,000 miles and contemplating the damn mopar warranty extension before the price goes up.
