I’m not sure where to post this, but I wanted to let others know what happened with my purchase through the 4WP website.
I purchased a Bestop soft top on the 4WP website to take advantage of the $200 Bestop rebate. 4WP had a Memorial Day sale covering the sales tax which was like a two-for! Score! Per the site, most orders are shipped within 1-2 business days after the order is placed. Five business days after I placed my order I called and sat on hold for an hour and 40 minutes before speaking to someone. I was told all of the items I ordered were not available. No one called or emailed to communicate with me. Each item was on back order and could “potentially” be available in two weeks but she didn’t want to say they would be and it end up being a month. A MONTH?! The site did not say anything about the items not being in stock. Actually, one of the items says “IN STOCK” but I can’t cancel my order because of the rebate expiration so I’m forced to wait for whenever they get the top, shade, and Tuffy security console in stock. At this point I’m hoping I have the top to submit the rebate form in time! I sat on hold for another 25 minutes to speak to a supervisor who said he’s worked there for 20 years and has dealt with many complaints and even voiced his own about the website not stating when items were on back order. He said he would call the vendors and call me back in a few minutes. He did not call back. I’ll never shop with 4WP again and I wanted to warn others before you get hit with the same BS.

I am having a similar problem with a cargo liner. No indication of it being on backorder. When I called the response was Covid, which is understandable but the back order status was not communicated in any fashion....good luck with your order....

Just an fyi for the future (although it sounds like you will not be using 4WP again): 4WP always has that “no sales tax sale” going on. I’ve seen it continually on their website for the last 2 years. It’s their standard offer dressed up as a special deal.

Their sale was to cover the sales tax which, don’t get me wrong, was a bonus to the Bestop rebate. But if I had known I was going to go through this I would have purchased through a different retailer.

I'm confused. Why can't you cancel your order?

You might try reaching out to Bestop. Their service is usually pretty good, and you can chat with a live rep through their website. Might be worth letting them know what’s going on. Tell them you’ll buy direct from them if they extend the rebate!

At least you didn’t try to get any work done there. Years ago on my JK I took it in for an alignment and to get some tires mounted after I installed my lift myself. They are the only off-road shop around that owns an alignment rack.

well, the alignment went fine, but they used an impact to put the lug nuts on without first spinning them on by hand. Cross threaded two of the studs on one wheel. I didn’t find out about it for several weeks until I removed the wheel to do some extended brake lines.

4WP denied they caused it and I was left on my own to press out the studs and replace them, as well as find new lug nuts.

Havent been to their store or website since. Bet I’ve spent $25k on Jeep parts since then and they didn’t have a shot at any of it.

4 wheel parts is like offroad version of Firestone, on a good day and you are lucky, you may get a worthy service, but most of time, they will screw you up one way or another.

Their poor customer service is one of the reasons why I will never give 4WP my business again. I learned that lesson long ago.

I generally deal only with @Northridge4x4 for my parts, unless a manufacturer (such as Metalcloak) doesn't sell their parts through a third party store. Their site lists if the parts are in stock or an approximate date when available from the manufacturer. I have found their estimations to be pretty accurate, whether its for out of stock items or items which are drop shipped. Plus they offer discounts on most items if you use this code: JLWRANGLERFORUM

That’s some shady $hit on their part. I just bought my JL last August. I will have it paid off in July and there are a lot of things I plan on doing, but definitely won’t be using them.

Probably could cancel, but would not address the OP's point. I order online a lot, just like a lot of folks these days. If something is on back order you should indicate that in some fashion. Some might move on, some might be ok to wait it out. It would be good business to let the customer know.
