I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I really don't know how to look this up, or properly word the situation.
Scenario - Heavy rain, water on the road.
I make a right-hand turn, coming out of a complete stop onto a four-lane road. I take it easy because of the conditions. I feel like I am not giving it enough gas, so I accelerate a little more. My backend swings out behind me like I am drifting. I let off the gas, allow the Jeep to autocorrect and again, give it a little gas, and I can hear the tires spinning. I slow down, again make a right basically as slow as possible, and come to a stop. I turn the Jeep off, leave it off for 2-3 minutes, get back in and head out without the issue occurring again.
I felt like I was driving on ice skates. It was in the high 50's in North Texas. There was definitely no ice.
I may hit the traction control button when I disabled the engine on/off. Would this cause the above, or does this sound like a an issue?
Apologies for my lack of knowledge and how to research this on the forums. I appreciate any and all responses.
I'm an idiot, I know.

Were you driving on asphalt or concrete? I ask this because after rain like we have had the asphalt releases oil to the surface and it’s like ice I can drift on demand with my JLUR when it like that, also vehicles leaking oil make it slippery, last but not least make sure your tires are not over inflated that will make it handle like it’s on roller skates:like:

Ahhh ... good question, it may have been on asphalt and the tires may have been over-inflated at the time.
Nitrogen tires? I have read up on it, and I understand the premise. The last thing I want to do is go back to the dealership I purchased the Jeep. That place was a nightmare. It looks like I shouldn't need to put it in the tires too often. I've had the Jeep since September and all is good in the tire department.

Not sure but your traction control should not allow you to spin out that bad. Typically when the wheel spin starts the traction control kicks in.

True but there is a pretty long delay until it works and traction control helps prevent wheel spin but it isn’t perfect.

Appreciate the response. I didn't think vehicles these days would allow that either. In 1998 I thought it was fun to do that in my little four-banger Ranger, today, not so much.
It hasn't happened since, and I am only 6 months in. I will keep my eye on it and see what happens in the future.
I have driven in torrential downpour since, but I have not had that happen. I also haven't driven down the same road as above.
Thanks again!

Nitrogen tires?
Unless you asked your dealer or you did it yourself, your vehicle did not come with nitrogen filled tires. You should have green valve stem caps if you do. That being said, nitrogen filled tires will not cause you to lose traction unless they are overfilled but that's no different than regular air. You mentioned turning off traction control. That will allow you to spin tires, especially if you don't have the anti-slip/LSD rear differential.

Awesome info. I really appreciate it.
This seems to be self inflicted user error.
Typical, I don’t know what the hell I’m doing type situation.

I just corrected my post above. It should have said your vehicle did NOT come with nitrogen filled tires.

Valve stem caps look identical to the below.
salesman told me they have nitrogen. I asked what do I do if I need to fill up my tires. He told me to swing by and they’ll do it for free.
the guy, and dealership was a nightmare though.
Awesome story about the purchase ....

If you’re still around, one more idiotic move on my part. I just popped in a new gas door, replaced my tail lights and third brake light. I left my doors open, tailgate open, didn’t think to unhook the battery. Went to start the Jeep, all proud to show my daughter who was right in the middle of everything to help. Ended up taking us 3+ hours, as I let her help and explained things to her.
Battery shows 12.1V and won’t turn over. Check engine light, brake is basically on the floor.
Typical of an idiot who now has a dead battery? If so, what are the repercussions of the ESS battery?

Most everyone has nitrogen in their tires. Air is ~78% nitrogen

OP, the dealer probably charged you for that nitrogen fill. It’s one of the way that they pad the invoice.

I’m not a nitrogen guy, personally.

check those pressures —- dealers are delivering Jeeps at 40 psi..... many drive with pressures much lower than than. I drive around at about 36 cold ..... works for me..... others are lower.....

I don't think there are any repercussions, either jump or charge whatever you have time for. There are some good threads about jumping and charging with the ess.

I also found others who had similar issues.
I ended up stepping on the brake harder, used the fob to press the start button. Cranked right up. No issues since. Weird.
