Hello JL Forum!

I bought a new 2018 Wrangler JLU Rubicon with Leather last weekend. I needed a car sooner than planned and found this one on the lot. Its essentially perfect but after doing the paperwork and ready to leave my dealership I couldn't find that it didn't come with heated seats. The dealership sales person didn't know either. we assumed that the fully loaded Rubi with leather came with heated seats, but it doesn't now. For me while I am in Florida but the car will go to my house in Maine and cold leather without heat is not pleasant.

As a result I am looking for a way to add in the factory heated options (install them under the leather if needed and then have that integrate with the factory navigation screen Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4-Inch Display. I really prefer not to buy aftermarket heated seat pads as they wont work with the navigation screen.

Any suggestions now or in the coming weeks would be appreciated.

Good luck to you but I think what you are looking to do is going to be tremendously expensive if it ends up being possible. BTW, your sales person is an idiot - heated seats is a clearly displayed item listed on the window sticker of the Wranglers that have it.

At this point your only option will be aftermarket with separate switches. It won’t be able to be incorporated into the uconnect system.

It's actually not a big deal and can easily be added aftermarket. Look at around $600-1000 at a good quality interior shop.
He said he wanted the factory heated seat option installed in his seats - I think that's going to be a lot harder than aftermarket stuff, which isn't hard at all.

I know I’m waking up a thread here, but I am wondering if anyone else has had a dealer install heated seats? I’ve found a nice looking JLUR that has everything I’m looking for aside from cold weather group, and I like heated seats in the winter in Minnesota. I may just go with the cheap pads from Amazon if nothing else.

Otherwise, I found several JLU Sport S with the cold weather group, and I’m thinking of going that route. Sport S would be missing some of the fun stuff, but it would be good enough for 98% of the time.

Paging @UR23

I too was surprised to see that my loaded Sahara has everything except the cold weather package. It’s not a huge deal since it has remote start, but disappointing.

Yeah, I’m probably overthinking it, I’m sure it would be fine. I just use heated seats for a couple minutes until it warms up enough. But my wife loves heated seats, she would have hers on high all the time if she could. Remote start does help, but I’m just curious how the dealer installed heated seats turn out.

I bought one of the first Rubicons also, had everything but cold weather and painted top and fenders. So, I had a body shop paint the top and fenders. I use to be in the after market business. After market heated seat are great, it's more about who is installing them. I'll be installing them my self. It's really not that difficult. I'm not a huge fan of any of the after market shops in MN. You can buy good seat heaters for $80. Any of the local shops will charge between $400 (dealer cost)-$800 plus after they mark it up...

UR23 stated he was having his dealer install heated seats. I haven't seen a follow up post regarding this.

I stalled and canceled the install of the heated seats once I found out they were. It factory or putting the switches in the proper place. They wanted to drill above cup holders to install switches. I’m going to try and work with dealer in factory like install. I just wish they told me ahead of time and I could have waited. Cooorado cold.
