Hiya,

Wanted to share a project I worked on over the break. I was looking for something that was modular, and that I could easily add and complete remove on the fly, so I went with Packout mounts that I'm able to arrange in multiple formats depending on what I'm doing. I attached the platform to the Jeep with the existing tie down bolts and I used hockey pucks as a spacer so there was a little give. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of the platform with all the mounts removed, but it's basically just flat and carpeted. It takes just a couple minutes to add/remove mounts. I'm pretty happy with it.

Cheap and flexible way to do it vs built in drawers, plenty of room behind for tents/chairs/mattress/etc,etc

This is exactly what i am gearing up to do. Price of some of those more permanent systems is insane, and i need mine to be able to be taken out when im not off-roading. I’ll be doing mine on a 4 door. I really like the way you did your template and im totally stealing that lol. Nice job and ill post mine once done!

@stino can you show how you anchored down the platform? You mentioned the tie down loops but was curious on how you did it.

I wish I had taken pictures of this

Jeep Wrangler JL DIY 2 Door Platform and Packout System Untitled-1

So basically, I used 6 hockey pucks (Blue), the nearest to the seats get wedged between the seat brackets.

The other 4 I drill a bolt hole through and they get in place of the Loops. (Its a bit uneven, so I shaved a few milimeters off all 4 so they sit flush. Just remove the plastic and use the bolt holes for the loops.

The red is 2x4s (or whatever size you want to use) boards that span all 3 pucks on each side. It just sits on the puck nearest to the seats, but is bolted down through the rear pucks. These 2x3s are screwed into the bottom of the platform.

I also drilled holes through the top of the platform the size of the bolt heads, so that the platform is flush and the bolts don't sit proud above the surface.

If you're looking at it from a side profile:

You could slide a folding table underneath to make use of the gap if you wanted to.

Hope this makes sense

I just got a cargo rack and mounted the pack out brackets to the cargo tray. Added three bags, and a rear view camera, so I don’t have to worry about seeing out the back.

Solid setup! Where did you get those mats for the sides of the cargo area?

i really like what you have going on there. I just may clone it this summer. It would work well for all the stuff I take to the shooting range.

My issue is I am long range shooter. I need to figure out an effortless way to carry my rifle's. I have an aftermarket gun rack for the back area. But its still hard to get the bench rifles in and out. All that leaves me is the rear seat. What a pain that is.

Hope I didn't steal your thread. Just looking to pick your brain on carrying long guns in a JL Rubicon.
