This question needs the replies to be clear on either underrated or overrated... don't want to give the wrong impression on the mod.

Please keep away from any mod that is just for looks... it must have function besides making people turn heads.

My most underrated mod is a Covosun mesh sun screen top. It's very cheap, good build quality, and simple. So far I am the only one that has mentioned it as an option. One cool feature is the mesh can be removed or partially removed to get at Freedom top levers. The mesh is fastened by heavy duty Velcro all along the perimeter of the attaching harness, allowing open area for scouting from open top. Some may think it is fully stitched and secure... it is completly removable for cleaning or storing, without need to remove the attachment harness. Only 10 seconds or less to remove the mesh screen, and about 30 seconds to reinstall.

My hidden Tazer JL mini will stop theft. I use a pin code to unlock all four brakes. Also I have metal low profile locking hood latches. Donno about cup holder... mine holds my smart phone and drinks snugly. But I am sure many others will find a use.

That is definitely under, and trail rated too! Until I loose my green horn status, I probably will invest further into the skid plate option.

Let me add underappreciated - turn signal extender.

Overrated - Distinction Applied color matched soundbar speaker grills. Not a lot of light hits this area so it's hard to tell it's even done. Their other products I do absolutely love though. Sorry don't really have functional mods i don't like haha.

Underrated - redline tuning hood struts. Not having to mess with the stupid hood prop every single time is worth every penny spent.

The Azuto front seat LED map light is a twofer: Overpriced, and underrated.

$50 would be a believable MSRP, not the C-note it's been since its introduction.

However...the practical effect of having light where none exists from the factory is plainly evident every time I use the light. To my eyes, it looks OEM, too.

For $50 if I could hard-wire it, I'd buy this today.

Underrated (for me): Sunrider for Hardtops and/or the "saddlebags" storage solution that straddles the console and provides little "map pockets"

Overrated: hood-mounted a-pillar lights (spots forward, floods to the side). They're cool and all, and I use them *occasionally* but I just don't really wheel at night that much, and having to reach down to the AUX lights to turn them on/off is a bit of a pain.

It's interesting. Every time I've mentioned those lights, folks either say what you've said, or ask me if mine are or could be hardwired.

I suppose if there was 12V power up there, as some option packages do provide, it could possibly be done. I'm content to use battery power. 👍

It takes 15 seconds to pull the knee panel and unplug your tazer, which defeats the pin security completely. It is the biggest placebo anti-theft device there is. If someone knows how to steal a JL, they know about tazers.
