I’d Rather Talk Jeep’s!
The audio build on my Wrangler has consumed me. I went and removed the seats and carpet to install Boom Mat 4mm acoustic and thermal mats.

From what I can tell it’s solid stuff that should work well. It probably added 20 pounds to the Jeep. I’m hopeful it will cool down where my feet are as they always tend to get toasty. And hopefully it improves the sound of my two 10” subs that I’m running.

One thing I’ve learned from multiple cuts is that the stuff can get sharp after cutting it. ?

Looking good! Definitely let us know how it rides after! I'd love to see a dB comparison between yours and OEM when finished

Any plans for deadening noise from up top as well?

I am really curious to know how much decrease in db.. I was considering doing something like that but afraid it would only makes the wind noise "louder".

For mine, it made the interior feel more "solid". The wind noise is always there, but I did not notice it to be louder afterwards.

I found the interior to be "tinny" before I installed Kilmat and Armorlite. Now, it's better in that regard.

I thought about doing the Hot Heads Headliner (I have a Sky One Touch), but I don’t think I will.

I’m curious to see if I’ll notice a difference as I haven’t driven the Jeep since November. Would have been nice to do a dB level before and after.

The one thing I’m most excited for is possibly cooling the area down by my feet. There’s even a sticker on the floorboard above the transmission that says “don’t touch…hot!” Or something like that.

Same here. I would really like to do this project, but only if it really makes a difference. If the loudness of interior conversations doesn't change, then it wouldn't be worth it. Or if more noise is coming from IP, or doors, or windshield frame, or even top, then it just would not be worth it.

I have the MOPAR Hardtop Headliner and am considering ordering Kilmat (it's back in stock on Amazon), especially if it makes a difference.

i did the Hot Heads headliner with the Sound Assassin strips after i’d driven the J**p around for a while. couldn’t get it all done the same weekend, so drove it around for a week before i got to finish it off after putting the SA strips in.

there was a significant (to me) difference in perceived wind and tire noise as soon as the SA strips were installed.
there was almost no further difference perceived when i installed the actual headliner.

I’ll be checking out those Sound Assassin strips. Thanks for mentioning this.

Recommend moving the fire extinguisher. The knee bolster designed to absorb impact from an accident. Current placement jeopardizes your ability to walk after an accident. Interested to know dB levels after insulation is completed.

Does the Boom mat have Butyl + Foam combined all in one? What was cost of the material?
I went with stuff I had laying around from previous projects but might look into Boom Mat if it combines both Butyl + Foam.
