Hi folks…

I’ve had the Z automotive aux switch kit installed on my JLRU for a few months now and it worked great till yesterday.

I have lights attached to ports 1 & 2 and all of a sudden aux 1 stopped working… no fuses are blown, all aux switches set to latching/ignotion.

I took a multimeter to the Z automotive box and banks 1 & 3 read 0v but 2 & 4 give an expected reading (around 13v). Here’s a video of the probing

anyone have any idea what could cause this? I’ve sent z a support message but figured I’d try here in case anyone else has had this happen to them & had a solution.

Might want to check your battery(s). This is a common side effect of a failing battery.

Battery was replace with a new odyssey about 6 weeks ago. Shouldn’t be failing at this stage. All other indications lead me to believe the battery is good.

any specific battery tests I should try besides the obvious?

Do you use a maintainer (trickle charger) when you are not using the Jeep?

Might let the Jeep sit over night and check the voltage at the posts and see what you get.

The best way to check is by putting a tester on the battery that draws a load. Some auto parts stores will do this at no cost.

It may be an aux battery that is failing, not the main battery. (Barney392 may have been referring to that, not the main) I regularly get an aux switch not available message on my dash, as I don't drive mine enough. (I really should put it on a trickle charger) Once I've driven it a bit, all works as it should.

I drive the car quite often (few times a week). Also, I bought the car used, and it’s had the aux battery mod (ie it’s been removed).

the setup has worked fine since I first installed the Z automotive Aux back in February.
