- Buy jeep (2024 sahara)
- Drive jeep
- Dont connect jeep to wifi or phone
- Past three months ownership so no more free jeep connect package i didnt want anyway
- Jeep notifies me that it failed an update one day
- Next day jeep notifies me that it received the update and things are fine.

Wait what? So the jeep can be updated even if its not connected to anything? And it will do it regardless of if I want it or not!?

Clearly remote control is still on since if they can change software they can brick the vehicle or make it honk the horn every time it detects a stronger person in the drivers seat in front of you during rush hour traffic. So please, tell me again where my privacy starts and ends, who actually owns the vehicle I paid for in full and while we are at it tell me why the GPS feature isnt free because if jeep can force software down our throats in the first place against our will then there is a two way communication happening that they are paying for anyway.

You will own nothing and be happy im told, but im not happy. I would rather own what I bought and this doesn't feel like ownership.

What do you mean by "even if its(sic) not connected to anything?" Hopefully you're aware that connecting to external WiFi wasn't a thing until 2024.

Yes, there are plenty of threads about big brother and people attempting to remove all comms from their Wrangler. Good luck!

There are threads around here discussing the relief of the 1984 tech...

YOU are a commodity now, embrace it. Don't you love the lack of ANY say in the matter?

You are off by several years on external wifi but i dont think this is a wifi situation. Im willing to bet theres a sim chip in the telemetry device which basically makes your jeep a cell phone.

You seem very happy being tracked and not in control of your jeep. Good luck!

Yes, there's a SIM chip that is used for those purposes. It was previously separate from the radio, so it could be removed somewhat easily. Yours, however, is embedded. Like I said: Good luck!

I'm not sure what you mean by being off by several years on external WiFi. As far as I know, mine won't connect to external WiFi.

I had to specifically turn on wi-fi "hotspots" in order to connect to my home wi-fi. I know this because I just did it last night.

I have had this Jeep since late August and have never done this before -- my last update was apparently through my phone? I'm not compaining, just curious. I do have the Jeep connect to my phone automatically whenever I start it since the phone is always in my pocket.

everything about jeep is perfect. we must never taunt jeep. we must always think its great. Any flaws are actually the drivers flaws.

I have the impression the sim is pay for the next 5 years.
Sirius usually use the GPS / Sat antenna while the other stuff like update probably use the cellular network. If this thing is like on-star just push the SOS button and see if you get a answer at the other end. If you do, you are connected to the cellular network.

As motioned above, if true, you will have a hard time getting the sim out, alternatively placing a dummy load on it would probably get you forward toward your goal. Would it be bullet proof, hard to say but will reduce the range a whole lot.

I do not think your need to wait that long. If they do not collect data they will not notice ;)

The wife’s JL has that SiriusXM connect or whatever it’s called now. It hasn’t been active in over a year. Yesterday morning her check engine light came on, shortly after she received an email that the light came on. Kinda creepy but what ever. It is what it is. She’s not about to sell it because of some big brother nonsense.
