The ignore list is ridiculous anyway. As soon as someone who isn't on your list quotes someone who is, they see the post anyway. Besides if you don't value their opinions, you can just choose to not read, or even read but not care what's written. No artificial safe space necessary.
Speaking as someone who had to disown their own mother sometimes it's worthwhile to curate your life a little bit.

No those are the people that make me sure there was a mistake made when MENSA denied my application.
Oh 100%. But sometimes it's more pathetic and sad than anything else. And that's where the ignore button comes in.

For the other mouth breathers, there's tenor.com and mom fucking jokes!

Well, I can't buy a 2024 XJ, or even a new XJ as it would have been in 2001, so not many options if that's what you want. In any case, I do offroad a bit, and don't generally mind any of the quirks that come with that. What I do mind is a $56k (2024 jluw with a couple packages) sticker vehicle being overly cheap or shitty in a bunch of minor / nuisance ways. Like

1. center console usb port not working reliably for car play, due to a cheap/shitty cable, requiring me to remove a seat and the console, run a new $6 anker cable to the back of the dash, and put it all back together just for it to work right

2. the infotainment is super laggy on boot - can't change volume/air/etc reliably for the first ~15-20 seconds. huge deal? no. annoying and cheap? yes.

3. the screen ratio sucks (way too wide for its height) and you can't even full-screen carplay / there's a bunch of redundant info wasting space on top / the whole thing is offset too far to the passenger side / most of carplay is just goofy at this ratio (some of this could be fixed by apple, some by jeep). I think this, overall, just wasn't tested enough before they put it out

4. mine basically required the mopar lift lcas to be highway-lane-stable at 75-80, which I drive a lot. I don't remember even the many TJs I drove drifting around as much as this did stock. but now it drives great everywhere at least. cheap and easy, but annoying to have to fix.

5. garbage stock speakers/audo. again, don't remember the old TJs even being this bad, but perhaps thats nostalgia. in any case, pretty terrible stock. TAs and a kicker under seat sub have solved this.

6. no one touch down rear windows. whats even the point of having one-touch fronts then? might was well all be regular or all one-touch (or one-touch driver only like back the OGs). I understand why not one-touch up, theoretically for weight savings/sensors, but why not down? Even my 2007 base golf had that ffs. Didn't realize how annoyed I'd be at this petty issue until after I bought it lol. Every car I've had since 2010 has had one-touch down all 4 windows. would be slightly less annoying if i didn't have to lean forward to get to the switch.

7. autopark

and some other minor nuissances. Some of these are obvious pre-purchase, and not a deal-breaker for me, but some aren't apparent til after you've had it a while. Also, they seem petty, but this is by far the most expensive vehicle I've owned, and is missing 'basic' stuff from every other vehicle I've owned over the last ~15 years...

i've had carplay in 3 different vehicles before this since 2016, and this is the worst implementation of it and overall worst infotainment I've had as well.

No, I didn't buy a jeep for the infotainment system, or some of these other features, but I also didn't buy any of those for that stuff either, and their respective MSRPs were 20k (2016), 22k (2019), 32k (2022).

I don't complain a ton, but when I do complain, its almost always due to "...for a $55k vehicle..."

I also feel compelled to close this by acknowledging I do like a lot about it, but the many nuissances made this the least excited I've been post-purchase of a new car. Its like I got all the downsides of increased regulations and technology and such without some of the upsides to offset it. As in, its no longer just a cool, simple vehicle, but also the new stuff doens't work that great.

I loved my xj with a 4" lift and rear locker.....but my friends TJ did so much better in the rocks with the same 32s....That being said, I'd be all over an xj with the 2.0 and etorque.

Same boat here. I always trade in my vehicles at the 5 year mark and I have 2 2018 JLs that need updating. I can afford it but no way I am going out of pocket 30k plus to upgrade each one. I'm now looking at slightly used 2023s on carmax and the difference might be closer to 18 to 20k. That might be doable, but they are alienating an entire market of people with these crazy prices.

It really is, fixed all the crappy stuff about the XJ - body no longer flexes into a taco if you take the doors off, standardized components compatible with real Jeeps (2 doors, naturally), made it convertible, coil spring rear instead of leaves, etc but kept all the 4 door solid axle goodness.

99 XJ 126k 5speed. Needs work and long arms, but it’s fun to drive. Base model. No power windows, locks or even a roof rack. JL is also a base. Good platforms to make them what you want.

Eh, it's useful for folks who are annoying but not worth trolling. Like well intentioned folks who incessantly post the same shit - "ChEcK yOuR fUsEs" and that ilk.
Thats in line with the

Let me tell you about Amsoil folks yeah?
