Just a thought, you're only adding two hours to the trip if you turn off interstates on Google Maps, depending on your tow rig, you may not be hitting the 8 hour calculation anyway, and you'll probably burn two hours picking up, rigging, and dropping off the trailer.

I added a stop for your first BOH since you drive by it.

Thanks for the trip planning. If the trailer won't work I may have to bite the bullet and drive it home. The other reason for trailering is so my wife doesn't have to drive back the other vehicle.

Have you considered a one way flight to pick it up? You could probably both fly there for less than the fuel to drive it.

Yes. Financially it would have made sense if we could have purchased the flights in advance. Since we didn't know when the Jeep would arrive we couldn't make plans.

LOL. That same flight was $64 2 weeks ago. I have a hard time paying 3 times the price due to lack of planning.

$300 in trailer + $150 in fuel > $400 in flights.

$125 trailer + $270 in fuel < $400 in flights + $70 Uber + $100 fuel I know flying is quicker but that is one thing I do have is time.

The dealership measured the Xtreme Recon and it is every bit of 79.5" - 80" wide so it is a no go on the uhaul car hauler.

I dont know about you guys but I have never " broken" in a truck/car or SUV. It gets driven like it was a few years old. I have never had issues with warranty due to break in... Don't get me wrong.. dont be redlining them at every stop sign and light but they were not babied either. The book is over kill on the " break in" IMO. I don't think anyone in states where the speed limit is 75-80 mph is driving 55-60mph as this is very unsafe thing to do. Plus i was taught by a Local motor guru who builds 1000-1500 hp motors for racing and holds records with boat motors has always said drive it from the start the way you plan to drive it that way it seats to your driving style. I have lived by that for 20 years and have many trucks and cars with 300K plus miles on them when they where sold. With that I drove my wrangler 300 miles home when i got it from an out of state dealer cruised it 60-80 ( following the Speed limit laws) the whole time with cruise control like i would on any trip.. Ive had zero issues at all.. But everyones got their own way and thats good by me. Just get out and Enjoy that new XR wrangler and post up pictures when you do get it !! Cheers

Good point. I think I am over thinking the whole break in period. I did find another trailer that is 83" wide so I think I will go with that. My wife really doesn't want to drive the car back by herself so we are going to do the "together thing". Thank you for everyone that provided input.

Most people aren't going to pay attention to break in, and it's just fine. I've gotten more relaxed after doing it many times. It's not an exact science by any means, I adhere by the following, for every new vehicle/motorcycle regardless

One WOT pull in the first 50 miles

Drive it "nice" for 500 miles and change the engine oil, change the rear diff oil if applicable, try to avoid prolonged highway stretches sitting at constant RPM

Drive it nice until ~1,500 miles, highway driving okay

Start to open it up a bit ~80%, change the oil at 3,000 miles

Drive it like a rented Kia, change your oil regularly
