I've seen a few threads regarding dash cameras but haven't noticed any discussing a rear camera on an XR with a hardtop and the larger tire blocking the rear window. I did read of possible interference with the GPS/Sattelite antenna, so I'll be sure to check it. I'll probably not remove the top anytime soon - living in the Pacific Northwest we tend to get a lot of rain/drizzle.

For those who have mounted/tried to mount a rear camera, where & how did you run the cabling?
Where did you wind up mounting the rear camera?

Any tips and tricks would be most appreciated.

Thanks! Did you mount it on the spare as indicated on the webpage? How did you run the cabling through the cab back to the front?
Yeah, it came with a mount to put it in the spare. The only time that's an issue is cruising 80-ish on I-25 south of Denver where the spare tends to bounce a bit.

It's fairly easy to remove the trim panels down the entire passenger side. The only section that's a bit of a pain is in the footwell. I ended up grounding it there.

Hi JJ - Ill pull some pictures tonight - I have a Blackvue 750 with front and rear cameras in a regular Rubicon, I have an XR on order and plan to mimic my installation knowing the spare does restrict the rear view a bit.

I mounted the rear camera on the furthers back cross member of the roll cage. Yes the spare impacts, but as a bonus I get a bit more side view. In term of running the wires, the plastic trim on the roll cage comes of really easy, thought I did have the hard top hoisted to make access easier. I ran the power wired down the A-pillar to the OBD port as I have the "Power Magic EZ". For the new rig I think I will connect to the wire bundle in the passenger footwell included with the Tow Package

Thanks! That is useful. I wasn't sure if I needed to remove the seats to run the cabling along inside.

Thanks! Those pictures would be very useful, especially how you mounted the rear camera on the roll cage. Since I haven't any idea when it'll be delivered, I'm not quite sure how to raise the roof, so to speak.~
My XR is coming with the aux switches, but my current plan is to have the camera set for parking monitoring for when I'm out and about.
Thanks for the information. I'd be interested in learning more about your plan to connect power in the passenger footwell.

First picture shows where I mounted the rear camera, second is a quick screen grab of the view over the spare tire. This is a standard Rubicon with a 33 inch tire. Sorry the quality is a bit low, it is wet and dark, and I didn’t wait for the high resolution file to down load.

Very nice installation and image on the screen. The Blackview is a bit pricey, but the resolution looks to be extremely high. Thanks for taking time to get in the weather for the pictures. I'm just down the road from you and know how yucky it is out right now.
