I mean when the door or tailgate is open, not manually switched on by scrolling up. You need the minimum dash brightness selected to have the dome light off with the doors open. I don't want the dome light when the door is open 99% of the time, so I have to dick around with the scroll wheel constantly.
Ohhh, I think I see now, you are parked in the dark, with tailgate/doors open, want to see whats playing on the screen, but the only way to keep dome off is to turn everything all the way down.

I havent gone out to check if this is what mine does when doors are open and jeep is off, but I would check the menu screens in the infotain
ment system, there may be a timer for that?

It's moreso not wanting my Jeep to light up like a Christmas tree when opening the door at night. It's kind of a "HEY COME MUG ME I'M DISTRACED" signal. Also if the door/tailgate is open for an extended period of time during daylight it's just wasting the battery for no reason.

Another plus/negative I just thought of it should disable the "key fob has left the vehicle" message with 3 horn beeps." Maybe it can still detect that the key has left but it always honks if you shut the door and leave with the Jeep running. The only thing I like about the push-button start feature is that I can leave the Jeep running for a minute, lock it, and walk away with the keys. If I'm leaving my Jeep for a second in the middle of a neighborhood at night I don't want the horn blasting to remind me of the thing I just intentionally did.
