Check this out. took the jeep in for some maintenance (oil/tire rotation) and was hearing a humming and vibration from front end. Turns out I need a new passenger side wheel hub. Picked it up yesterday and the front tire fell off on the way home. I found only 1 lug nut on the road. So either he only put one on or never tightened any of them. I had decided to go visit my parents so I had turned down a side street so fortunately I was going slow. If I had continued on the road I was on it could have happened at 40 mph or more.
that is really painful and if the sevrice clowns won't cooperate with you then it may be a lawyer time

Can you prove the dealership didn't do something correctly? But, they could say someone tried to steal your tire and that's what happened. Glad you're not hurt.

The OP was driving home from the dealer.
I know what he says, but unless it feel off in the dealer parking lot I'm sure they will probably try to not admit fault. I know this can happen, because at the dealership where my brother works this happened to a few customers. Apparently, there was a faulty torque wrench that was not registering properly. And the dealer did repair whatever happened.

If that dealership is smart, they just suck it up and fix it themselves without making it an insurance issue. Hopefully they keep it off the Carfax also.

I brought my Jeep in for the free oil change and tire rotation, only have 2 techs I know work on it. Also had them check steering, new stabilizer and updated track bar ordered and in parts, goes in Friday for those, of course these volume dealers service dept suck. local Toyota dealer is the worst, listen to freinds and neighbors tell of antics at that place. you pay peanuts you get monkeys,

They can't put an inspection sticker on strait to safe their life either. It was nice just paying $10 for an oil change and inspection though with the Mopar plan.

At work I consult car dealerships. Wheels falling off happens more than you would believe. Like some of the others have said, I would never let a dealership do any routine maintenance on my car.

A top complaint we hear from dealership owners is that they can't find good people. So they hire the best they can find, which often isn't the first guy you'd choose to work on your car, either. "Do you have thumbs?" "Yeah." "Put this on and get back there."

The guy on tire duty is usually the new guy who just did your oil change without draining the old oil first. He used a paper floor mat, though!
Ah yes, the old fog a mirror interview process.
In the UK, back I’m the day, dealerships employed ā€˜mechanics’ who’d served apprenticeships and had ongoing training. They could problem solve for themselves and had pride in their work.

Nowadays they employ ā€˜fitters’ who have no training and don’t give a sh1t. Sounds like it’s the same for you guys. Sad really.
It was the same here in the USA RH. We had real mechanics, But now we mainly have Technicians. The vast majority of Technicians can't trouble shoot for shit. They basically just replace parts. Very sad.

Reminds me of the Ron White story where he had a wheel come off his van right after pulling out of a Sears Auto Center. I kinda thought he made it up as part of his comedy routine, but I guess this shit happens.
