When I left town and sped up to 80km/h plus, it no longer ran in full electric mode. What does it mean - I don't know!?!
Probably means that the battery draw required to keep the hvac and any battery heating demands going and accelerate the jeep up to a higher speed was enough to kick the engine on.

This is as specific as I can get

Last night I paid $3 flat rate to charge it up to 100%(7.2kw took 2 hours 16 minutes) from 1%, during the day it's $2 per hour at the same city run public charger.

This morning battery at 100% - time 8:20am
Temperature in the underground garage 7c
Temperature outside -2c

Drove 9km - 2 stops didn't shut down the Wrangler, each stop was about 5 minutes each

Battery at 68% - time 8:56am

The gas plant never came on, speed was mostly about 30kmph to a max of 45kmph

Charged it back up for free required 5.61kwh

I only put on the Steering wheel heater for about 10 minutes

Oh boy...mine started doing that on cold days in Colorado. Then a few weeks ago got the dreaded "service hybrid system" warning on a cold morning and car would not start at all. Towed to dealer and they did some programing and the recall.

Got it back and...no start on cold morning, it warmed up outside and started. Then last week, same thing. brought it to dealer and now it wont start at all.

They have no Idea what is wrong. They contacted Jeep engineers. Now they think it is some EV control module that is back ordered, also may need a new battery $$$. In the meantime cant get a courtesy car, and am trying to get someone @JeepCares to figure out how to get me a car while it is in the shop.

Love the jeep, but it really should be programed if the EV system fails you can still drive it with the ICE!
Week 3, jeep has no idea. Supposedly working with "star" engineers. Still a $55K paper weight.

I think I recall reading in the manual that if the battery is very cold, the jeep will run ICE and use coolant to warm up battery before allowing use of electric motor. not sure how cold is 'very cold' but a limitation. If plugged in, it is suppose to self monitor and keep the battery 'warm' for imeadiate use. No issues at 10 deg F noted.

Yesterday 10c in Toronto I drove 86km on $3 of electricity

Electric - 86.1km
Gas - 6.2km - I forced this on a few times just to warm up the Wrangler.

I started the day with a full battery cost me $3(flat rate) the previous night at the public charger

8:30am - 9am - dropped the kids to school 10 km - parked charged 60 minutes up 5 kWh - free

11:30am - 1:15pm 20km - parked charged 60 minutes up 5 kWh - free

2:30pm - drove 3km - parked charged 60 minutes up 5 kWh - free

3:45pm - 5pm - drove 20km - parked charged 60 minutes up 5 kWh - free

6pm - 815pm drove until the battery was about 2% - parked charged 60 minutes up 5 kWh - free

I did not pay to charge up the battery fully last night, closest public chargers were being used, plus I will not drive that much today, and I can get to 100% with free charging during the day

I have access to 6 paid public chargers

2 are .5km away 7.2kWh 10 minute walk but I usually ride 3 minutes, these are my go to chargers
2 are 1km away 7.2kWh
2 are 2km away 6.6kWh

about 8 free 1 hour chargers 5.3kWh .4km away

Im on my 6th JL and also have had a Tesla Model Y for a year now. The Tesla battery gets absolutely murdered in the cold. I lifted it and have Fallen Wildpeaks on it so that hurts the distance but the cold will hurt it more than anything.
Yeah, this is a huge problem with any EV or hybrid - batteries simply don't do well in the extreme cold. It is one of the reasons that ICE engines will continue to be with us for a few more decades at least. Barring a major leap in battery technology, EVs simply don't work

Well everyone better get ready for this type of stuff. Since electric everything is getting shoved down our throats. Its a damb shame.
Who are these boogie men who are shoving EVs down your throat?
Perhaps we should probably be looking at this MPG thing a little differently.

Last night I was helping out a friend do some running around the city, in the snow -5c, we were at it for 4 hours, we made over 50 stops, at the end of it I had 7% and 4km available, I started with 90% 33km, at the end I covered 18km electric, and 2 ICE, I usually run ICE at the beginning when it's frigid, and sometimes during if I jump on the highway.

I am not sure exactly what the gas consumption vs electric would be in this scenario

However 4 hours of stop starting cannot be that great on the ICE, and I only spend $3 to charge up the Wrangler.

$3 at a public charger because I don't have access to a private charger, I don't know how much gas I would have used doing the same, less than $3 in gas, more, I don't know.
Starting and stopping is fuel intensive on any gas engine, even more so in the cold when the engine is in high idle. I'd estimate 2-3 gallons on gas only for that trip.
