@JSFoster75Yes, they've replace the one on my Jeep along with other vehicles... And I watched the entire process... I don't see how 2-3" height difference or a bumper (that they don't even get near) could possibly affect the installation process. IMHO it's someone saying, "this isn't a stock vehicle, so my guide says I can't touch it"...
The front bumper thing makes little sense to me either. The height issue does make sense to me.
And it very well could be the Tech, just did not want to do for whatever reason.
I know, I myself will not have a windshield (any auto glass) replaced in my driveway / but only at the auto glass store itself.
I go to the auto glass store... I politely and cordially talk to the Manager of the store and tell him my expectations. Expectations of a proper install that is done neatly / cleanly, no scratches on the window frame( no adhesive all over or out of place) etc.
I let the Manager politely know, I am OCD and I will be unhappy if my expectations are not met. I have him examine my vehicle before the work is performed..
I tell him I plan on contacting corporate one way or the other and tell corporate of my experience with that store and that Tech and that Manager.
I can tell you each and every Manager over the years, has told me they truly appreciated my candor. That they would rather know upfront that I was OCD.... and that I was the kinda guy to communicate with corporate. This way they knew a head of time to be very careful doing the deed on my vehicle.
With that said, the Manager has each time... always, kept checking on the installer he chose in the shop to do the job. My guess is, is that each time the Manager put his best guy/girl on my vehicle. I have had plenty of windshields replaced over the years.
And... I do as I say.... and email or call corporate (Regional Rep) after na install and tell them how the experience was.
With Safelite, thus far after 50+ years doing business with them, I only have had one issue. Slight air leak after an install. It was dealt with by Safelite, no questions asked.
By the way, I always always tip the Tech and tell him Thank you. I also talk to him or her before the install is done and after the install.
