Hey everyone,

I had my windshield replaced today under auto-glass insurance coverage. I insisted on only accepting an OEM windshield replacement. But I ended up with the Corning Gurella Glass windshield. I was unfamiliar with this windshield until today, and I'm still not sure if this windshield is technically considered OEM.

Anyway, my core problem is the ACC housing is no-longer flush to my windshield after the shop replaced my windshield with the GG windshield. There's roughly a 3/8" gap between the plastic moulding where the ACC housing normally mates to the windshield.

Is this normal after getting a windshield replaced? Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Gorilla Glass is OEM and standard in all models now with the exception of the base Sport. If I’m wrong a big brain will jump in and correct me.

That housing should definitely sit flush against the windshield. The shop you went to got it wrong and I’d make them fix it.

I’ve had my windshield replaced with Gorilla Glass that did come stock on my Jeep. There is no gap on mine. I wonder if your installer removed all the butyl adhesive / sealant before installing the new glass.

Pictures can be misleading but it looks like your installer gave you too much sealant and lifted the glass away from the box or the cover got moved during replacement. Have you tried loosening the screws to the enclosure and repositioning it?

Yeah, I removed the four plastic screws on the housing last night to try and reposition it forward... It didn't budge. I think those four screws are only used to remove the plastic housing from the actual ACC unit itself; probably for servicing. The metal ACC unit under the plastic housing has some fasteners that mount it to the body, I'd probably have to loosen those to get it to move anywhere. I opted not to do that because I'm doubting the ACC unit moved at all.

________

Thanks for the other responses. This gives me the confidence to go back and ask them to fix it, since it doesn't seem like this is normal.

I couldn't find anyone else who had this issue, so it seems like a rare problem. Maybe that'll change in a few years now that all 24+ models have ACC.
