Took two trips to the dealer but I think I will finally get to listen to the radio on the HWY. My New JLU has so much wind noise on the HWY, above 50 MPH, that you think that the drivers side window is down a inch. Faulty windshield, I was told is the problem and the dealer is installing a new one under warranty.
any other Jeep folks have this problem or am I the only lucky one?

@Paladin

Yes, there has been some posts in regard to air leaks as you mention.

It is not actually, a faulty/defective windshield, you have....

Some of these leaks were related to a gap in the adhesive that adheres the windshield to the metal frame. In order to fix this particular issue they need to pull the windshield. Often when you pull a windshield it cracks so the installer needs a new windshield, on hand just in case... When they go to do the install they take great care to make sure there is no gaps... even tiny gaps in the adhesive..

SO, hopefully the air leak you have is in fact related to a gap in the adhesive.. If not come back and tell us that it did not remedy the air leak as there are other causes of such an air leak...

Just back from the dealer and new windshield. I can’t really say that it helped a thing. Still have the same wind noise at HWY speed. Is this a normal thing? I had a 2012 JKU that didn’t have half the wind noise as this new JLU. It’s not a whistle or anything like that. Just a constant buffeting at 60 and above. Anyone else have this? Maybe I need to go to the dealer and drive another JLU to see if it makes the same noise.

There is a lot of wind noise at higher speeds but it varies on mine. Went on a 3 hour drive to see my son this past Saturday and on the way down I was thinking how QUIET the Jeep was. Running 75- 80 MPH. On the way home later that night I was thinking how LOUD it was. Seems to me to be louder when in a cross wind, but that's just a guess.

I had a wind noise that sounded like the passenger's window was slightly opened. It ended up being the rear view mirror on that side. There is a thread here somewhere about this noise and the fix for it. Pull off a piece of the plastic trim on the window and fill in the gap inside with small pieces of weather stripping or silicone. I used clear silicone. It worked so well that I also did the driver's side. I could tell a difference because this noise was also at slower speeds.

I have had a few loaner Jeeps while mine was being serviced. I thought all of them were louder than mine.

Just to add, when I came home from the dealer yesterday the windshield installer had put blue painters tape all around the edge of my new windshield. Was raining steady and I had a 40 minute drive to get home. Service writer said to leave the tape on until noon the next day. Fast forward to today. Tape removed and I took a little trip on the HWY just to satisfy my curiosity. My Jeep is quite a bit better. Wind noise is quieter. Not totally gone, but much more subdued. Think I may have a normal Jeep now. We shall see.

Just exactly where is this plastic piece that you removed and put silicone on the back?

It is a black triangular piece on the doors beside the mirror. Where the mirror mounts on the door. Not on the mirror itself. My Jeep is currently in the shop so I can't take a picture. I pried the piece off with a plastic trim tool. Just take it easy and it will pop off. Some folks put weather stripping in the space and others used silicone. I had silicone on hand so that is what I used. There is a lengthy thread here somewhere - but there are a lot of threads on wind noise. It didn't solve all the wind noise, just the sound I had of a window being cracked open.

Search for the thread titled: Wind Noise - Jeep is looking into this. It is post #59 by unsavory dated Dec.16, 2019 (on the 5th page I think.)
I've been struggling with this issue as well. Piercing loud wind noise that was hurting my ears, and preventing me from having any kind of conversation at all with my kids in the back seat while on the highway.

I tried all of the suggestions in this thread, such as taping along windshield, adjusting windshield, inspecting seals behind windshield, aligning freedom panels, etc. None of that helped.

In my case it turned out to be the little triangular plastic pieces next to the side mirrors. I put tape over the gaps around the edges and it was as quiet as a Mercedes Benz after that. Even my wife commented on how much quieter it was.

Looks like wind is hitting that side mirror and being pushed into the gaps behind those little plastic triangles, and behind that triangle is a bunch of huge holes that let air rush into the door near the A-pillar.

I ended up putting silicon under it to seal it, and it worked great. Try it out!

Thank you! I will give this a try. The dealer said there is a "recall letter" on it's way and that everyone is putting the freedom tops on wrong. Yes, I have taken mine off several times.

I had been blaming it on the windshield or the freedom tops. Under 60, the JLU is much quieter than the JLU. I had the carpet headliner in the JKU which is better too. The JLU at 60 or greater starts getting a whistle that sounds like it is along the windshield at the top, but it gets so loud by 70 (Normal I-5 speed limit officer) that you can't talk and the radio auto volume can't keep up.
