I’ve used my winch only twice so far. Once to spool the cable on when first installing. The second time when spooling the cable on it properly under load. Both times after using it, I get a service engine soon light.

It goes away after a few restarts of the Jeep. Anyone else experience this?

Get a Tazer. It can raise and hold RPM while winching.

Ding, Ding, winner, we have a winner here! Good answer.
The question I wonder is why it doesn't shut off once the voltage is back within parameters automatically and why it takes a few engine cycles

It probably takes time for the voltage to become stable enough for the ECM to recognize the change and clear the fault during it's post test.
