I had a similar question and did more research and came across SAE J684.
Interesting read, but rememebr things are overtested for factors of safety.
The 2 door Jeep may be rated for 2000lbs, but that has to do with brakes and other parts. The hitch and it's connection to the vehicle is rated...
That makes sense, thank you. If I could reach solid ground for the mats not to sink, chances are pretty good I won't need the help. The boards would make more sense as a backup in case I get mired in deep snow
Thank you!
I have seen a lot of boards that compare different traction boards over wide ground conditions, but I am trying to specifically talk about snow and introduce the idea of the mat. The general consensus is that the Max Trax are the best albeit expensive, but they are large too. Who has tested...
Got word from dealer that mine is on it's way to the dealership, I have an appointment for Saturday to pick it up! Time to print out the pick up inspection checklist
woohoo for club Selkirk
but 8 days for 593 miles seems sluggish even for rail freight. 74 miles per day, average of 3 miles per hour. It's walking to the dropyard?
Because of ordering new, my bank extended the 30 days to almost 120. I am not sure if your bank will do the same, but it's worth asking how long the credit pull and rate are good for.
You also have the option of buying it before it arrives, but there are a few different risks with that.
There is an end in Mass and one in Selkirk NY. I am getting mine out of Keene, so mine is going to selkirk. My friend got one that is on a train to the mass depot and his started the train ride on the 24th. The train might drop some cars in Selkirk and go on to Mass tho, I really have no idea
If you are really concerned, I would suggest making a rig where you measure from the bottom of a stick or pipe to the ground and drive under it. Lower it a little for a safety margin
Today I learned that the dealer can know much more than Jeep chat. My dealer found out that my Jeep for on the train car on Monday. Jeep Chat knows that it got released to the carrier, but doesn't know if it's on a train or when it might be. It's still on the way!
I have a 2009 Liberty with around 140k miles I think on the original battery, and I ran lights and sirens and a radio for quite a few years in the winters of New England. It "might" be a fluke it's still decent. Wonder if I will have the same luck with my JL
Hopefully it's keeping mine company and talking about all the adventures they are about to do! Mine got to the railyard on the 22/23rd and was scheduled to be in Selkirk at on the 14th. Now Jeep Chat says the shipping is TBD and my dealer thinks it's still on track.
Alexander might be a computer, he was quick to tell me that it's not completely built and being shipped out. When I told him that it's been at the railyard for a week now and I asked him if he knew if the railyard was the new home or when it might get queued up....I got "That's fantastic news!"...
Sept 2 here! Not holding my breath to drive it on my Birthday, but praying it comes in early enough such that I don't need to do another state inspection with my trade-in.
