Hi everyone - here is my dilemma. We had a 1986 CJ7, finally sold it as we know nothing about cars and something was always broken. But we loved driving around with it- top down.

I have a Camry, and I want to trade / sell for a wrangler. My husband has a 4runner which we will keep. We want a 2 door soft top with automatic, basic equipment is ok. my husband want it of course higher and crazier, but as it will be my main car, we decided on a Willys as is a great compromise.

But, I don’t find any 2 door soft top Willy’s in the area! Color I am ok with everything more or less (maybe not red). However, no 2023 out there, the 2024 not out there yet, there is a strike on top. The 2023 (no soft tops) I see are ridiculous expensive.

Would you try find a Willy’s maybe from out of state and try to get a good deal, order a 2024 and just wait (I have found a dealer with decent discount), or wait for the 2024 Willy’s to hit the lots at one point? Or go with a used 2022/2023 trade in (but not sure what the person used the car for)? Maybe some people will have to cancel their orders with 7% internet already ? (We pay cash I think)?

I just bought a 2024 Willys off the lot last weekend and I LOVE it so far. I had ordered a manual sport s but with the delays and now strike I just cancelled the order. The Willy’s I got had every package I had in my custom order and was even the same color I wanted. Definitely worth the extra money to get the ‘24 over the ‘23. I had the same problem, unable to find a local Willys with the soft top. Eventually I found one, but I had to go out of state to buy it. I’ve never bought a car out of state before, but PA/NY made the process easy. Some states make it more difficult. Overall it was well worth it.

Did you find it through autortrader.com (or similar page)?

I got a great deal buying out of state, off the lot. I drove 8 hours away and saved thousands, didn't have to wait for a build. I see Sports in the $30's, which I would consider. You could add wheels and tires, still be ahead of the game. There is one Willys with a hardtop, you could easily find someone to trade tops with you.

Just purchased a 23 Willy's and got $5k off sticker. Dealers seem to be discounting 23's on the lot. Was not in my city but within an hours or so drive.

Do a search within whatever area you are willing to drive to pick it up. The deals are out there.

You can search for your new Willys on the Jeep website. Shows jeeps on lot, in transit or being built. The 2024 Willys has some great updates since 2023 like rear lockers, OFF ROAD PLUS, 33 inch BFG KO 2s

I found one 2023 I like but dealer is still at MSRP. Not one penny down … need to call them again. Thanks for the feedback- helpful!

Thanks!!!!!
Saw the white one but didn’t Insider because I don’t want to deal with a hard top. No room to store.
The black I have not seen- need to call for the condition. Looks like the passenger seat is terrible stained. They didn’t even vaccum the sand out of the car.

And yes I have seen first drop to low 30s but I have no idea about lift kits and tires … so hard to make a decision how much we would need to put in to make it visually appealing ;-)

Not cheap upgrades either (high flares also ?) best bang for buck by far. The valve of the upgrades should cover the cost of a soft top if off the lot hardtop- a win.

I vote for ordering a ’24. Yes, you’re going to be waiting but at least you can get exactly what you want.

With 1 exceptions (4R) I have ordered what I wanted since my first new vehicle, an 89 Bronco . Yep, there’s a wait, 21 Wrangler was 4 months . I survived the wait for exactly my build. To get a V8 4R required the top trim that came with all but a few options that every one inventoried in the state had anyway. Didn’t bother to order to Not Get a sunroof and some electronics upgrade.

I was able to get a 23 below MSRP on Memorial Day on the lot. End of the month always helps.…. You have to find the right dealer, negotiate hard and be willing to walk away.
