Looking at getting 5 of the Quadratec steel 17x9 wheels with 4.75 B.S.

Plan is to mount 37x12.50x17 Kanata Trail Hogs, no lift currently, will they rub on the frame with no spacers? Or will I be good, plan 2" lift this summer and this is not a DD, right now just a dirt road queen

Fenders will be swapped out if necessary to flat ones

I would purchase wheels based on what lift kit you think you will get in the future. Metalcloak for example recommends (4.5" of backspacing or less or an equivalent of a 2" spacer on factory wheels). You should be able to run the 37 inch tires on a smooth road with out rubbing. The backspacing prevents the tires from rubbing as your axle starts to articulate up and down. If you go to the lift kit manufacturers website it will recommend what backspacing wheel is recommended for their lift.

Thank you!

That's what I was thinking, Thank you.

As for lift I will probably go for 2" progressive springs and longer shocks, I will make my own LCA this summer and I'll make uppers if I need to correct WB or caster

These have 1/4 more BS than what most recommend, but, if 1/4 inch is difference between rubbing at full lock and not, I will go with some rubbing, since driving at steering locked is not real common on the trail

I'm getting these steel wheels so in the future if I want I can DIY bead lock them and have a dedicated trail tire/wheels.

I will report back when they come in and start a build thread

I'm running 4.5" backspace with 37" (36.5" actual) tires, with a 3.5" Metalcloak lift, w/ 1" bumps added. It works well. My full lock steering angle is OEM on a JLUR. I was getting some fender liner rubbing and it was starting to tear up the liners, so I recently gutted the liners (a.k.a. fender chop).

I'd be interested to hear if you can save a lot by fabricating your own control arms, assuming you have to buy the joints from Currie, Metalcloak, or others, at retail.

I still have stuff left over from my old wheeling/racing days, this is kind of my midlife crisis project, I miss the fabrication.

Same here, 37" tires on 4.5" backspace, 3.5" MC lift, and I think 1" bump stops as well.

Not even remotely close to rubbing anything. Even at full flex it's got like 1/2" of clearance from the stock fender liners.

For a couple weeks I actually ran those tires/wheels on stock suspension, no lift. Surprisingly even that didn't rub! Although to be fair, I only did street driving during that time.

Personally I think I would prefer having a little less than 4.5" backspace, probably 4" would be more to my taste, to get a little more poke, but I already had these wheels from a previous vehicle and didn't want to buy new ones so it is what it is lol

I agree. I had 3.5" backspace and went to these Icon Rebound Pro "Interlock" wheels. 4" would suit me, since I want to go to 38"s when the tires wear out.
