I think us big guys "fit", but comfort is something else...I checked out a new Sahara yesterday, and while I admit, I fit (6'4"), comfort is something different. I remember I wanted to buy a C7 Corvette when they first came out. I wedged myself into both the coupe and convertible. Sure I fit, but would I be comfortable?
Renting one from Hertz for four days answered that..No sale.
I agree. Sometimes us tall guys sacrifice comfort and settle for "fit." I owned a Lotus Exige for about a year and convinced myself I fit fine. The reality of it was the driving pleasure was worth the slight discomfort and people laughing at me getting in/out. If you've never sat in one, watch a YouTube video.... At my current age I would need yoga lessons to get in.

I'm 6'2" and I fit comfortably, but I cannot see the very top of the 7-inch cluster display that shows the configurable items in the corners and top center. However, I couldn't see the very top of the instrument cluster in my JK, either.

Funny I'm 6'4" and had the opposite issue. I felt headroom was sufficient(less than the JK), but I could have used an extra inch of legroom to be completely comfortable.
It's a joke that at 4" longer over all length in the JL unlimited, almost none of that went towards the size of the cabin or the trunk. The 1" of it they did put in the cabin was used to extend the leg room for the rear passengers?! :swear:

They obviously had the SUV / grocer getter mentality to increase leg room there instead of the front or trunk space.

A wrangler is not supposed to be like every other SUV! If you're going to increase space, at LEAST do it in the front cabin or trunk!

What's with all these 6'4" and 6'6" guys? Crazy! I couldn't imagine the horror of flying or trying to find a car at that height.

New problems for Tall Guys. I did test drive in a new Rubicon with cloth seats. I am 6'7" and drive a 2014 Rubicon every day.

The new seats are frankly a safety concern. I think the seats sits higher as I have to bend down a little more to see a stop light. (Not a big deal). I have the same problem with every convertible I drive. I just lower the top whenever I can - problem solved. I look over the top of the windshield.

The real problem is in the event of a rear-end crash my head will definetly careen into the hard plastic sports bar. In my test-drive exuberence I didn't even notice. My wife, the insurance agent, foresees this as a major liability issue. No problem for her, she just sold herself another Life Insurance Policy on me.

Of all the things I absolutely love about the new JL, I think the things that needs addresssing the most are the front seats. Jeep could solve the liability issue with a height adjustable seats. In addition to a height adjsutable seat, I wish they could slide back a two inches more. I also wish there was a two-way (In/out and Up/down) adjustable lumbar support for both the driver and the passenger seat.

Since my wife needs the lumbar support... guess who gets to drive all the time? Come on Jeep - help a guy out!

The seats do have height adjustment.

Not low enough. It feels like they increased the height by an inch or so from the JK... when I sat in the JL it definitely felt like it should be able to go lower.

Yes You are correct. However, from my perspective (6'7") they do not go low enough. I sit at least an inch or two taller in the seat than the JK.

I noticed this as well. I am long in the legs, and never felt headroom was an issue in the JK. In the JL I felt like the seat was a good 1-2" higher at it's lowest point(Still ok for me, but I'm only 6'4)

A couple of things- #1 the brackets are pretty high up I think they could be lowered with some custom brackets. #2 I talked to the guys at extend my seat and they said they will be working on new brackets for the JL next week. I will update when they are available.

I am 6'4" and fit fine
I have a friend that is 6'6" that does not fit...
now to explain better. I am equally proportioned in Torso and Inseam.
He is significantly longer in the torso and has shorter legs.
his issue is headroom.

hope this helps

Lots of tall guys so I appreciate that feedback, Are there any other tall and ahh...big boned guys that can give some feed back? I'm 6'5"+ and on the wrong side of 310, I've owned multiple JKs and don't feel too uncomfortable at all but the seat height in the JL has me concerned as well as potentially hip/shoulder room with the adjusted center console and arm rests...would you guys say fit width wise is about the same as the JK?
I need to get in to see one in person

I'm 6'5", 325, Torso Tall and I fit "comfortably". I'll have to duck a bit to see stoplights but other than that I didn't feel like I was going to bang my head or knees or anything. The seat is definitely an inch or so taller than the JK's but I think they also increased the headroom a bit in the panels to compensate.

I don’t feel this inch higher seat people speak of but my Jeep is lifted and the JL’s I’ve sat in are. not. Regardless the width is slightly tighter but that seems to be from the more appointments and stuff on the doors. Height seems the same.
