I'm in north Alabama not far from stoney lonesome and close enough to road trip windrock TN. I chose the Rubicon for the great opportunities where I'm at. I have a second home in Gulf Shores. There's nothing better for the beach than a naked jeep. One day I'll be full time at the beach. Flat, can't drive on the beach unless you want jail time. So if I was there the Sahara would be a much better choice especially the full time 4wd for severe weather situations. There are no wrong answers to which jeep, everyone has different wants and needs. If all one could afford was a base sport, I'm sure they will have more fun than rav 4.

Hell, back in 2019 when I made that post you couldn’t get a Rubi with Selec-Trac!
Mainly got it for my lovely wife so she wouldn't f**k up my Rubi...

NC here....we get a ice, snow & slush once in a while. Perfect for Selec-Trac.

Now that I have a 4x4 it will never snow here again :CWL:

I picked Sahara because I wanted a fully-loaded Wrangler to get me through these PNW winters, and because I prefer the traditional Jeep, sleeper look.

The combination of Selec-Trac and rear LSD makes driving in snow so easy sometimes I think there must be something wrong with...the snow...

I initially was going to get a Willys - but then I did my build outs and the Sahara was only 2k more and then the Rubi was 2k more than that....I ended up with 4 different builds with 4 different trims that had a price range difference of 6k between them. Ended up in Sahara - just didnt think I would use the Rubi features being in upstate ny with not a lot of trails....and the ones I have found my Sahara will do just fine on. Saved the 2k and got some new wheels, rock rails and grill inserts....now just waiting for it to be built!

Aldo, the first thing I noticed is that the first 3 letters on your license tag says "Brrrrrrr". ?

That's a lot of snow right there. But, for an old southerm boy like me a dusting is a lot of snow. :)

I traded a Rubi for a Sahara… why?? For the totally awesome selec-trac transfer case with 4wd auto which makes it the best Wrangler for winter conditions and by far. And I never used the lockers in my Rubi.
The Sahara interior is nicer too. Heck do like me and put on your Sahara what you like on the Rubi.

In the last year, I’ve installed Rubi take-off wheels and upped the tire size to 34s., got the Rubi metal bumper, hood, fenders and suspension.

So I technically have a Rubicon without the things I didn’t need or use on my Rubi, but with the very best transfer case for my use.
