They have 2 rings for the Mopar Bead lock wheels and one is thinner for non bead ;lock mounts and the other for bead lock mounts and is a wider ring.

Can I install the bead lock ring when the tire is normally mounted using the seal? Must this ring be ONLY used with bead lock mount, or can it be used either way?

If I get a flat and the tire shop will only mount them as non-bead lock. can the ring still be installed or will it cut into the tire?

First pic is the non-bead lock ring

2nd pic is the bead lock ring

I got them with the true Beadlock for almost three years now. They are good on the road (good balancing required) and super sturdy and reliable off-road. Plus, I love the OEM look..

You can mount the "real" beadlock ring on the wheel with the tire mounted in the non-beadlock position. However, there will be a gap between the ring and the wheel where the tire would sit if mounted as a beadlock. You can see the gap in your bottom picture, this will be visible and a bit strange looking. The non-beadlock rings wrap around this gap to provide a finished look. Also something to consider is the bolt heads on the "real" bead lock rings are rock catchers. These would stand out even further from the sidewall of the tire if you ran them with the tire mounted conventionally. I hope at least some of that make sense....

Can I ask why you would want to do this? I was maybe being a little politically correct initially, it will look pretty strange. Also, you probably wouldn't want to air down the tires ever because the rings may pinch the side wall at low pressures. Plus there would be a good sized gap for mud and other debris to get into.

I posted original why above... with some type-o there.

So just for a flat tire reason and getting home.

I have a XR and the beadlock wheels came with the package. Can I fit 37” wheels and what size do you recommend 12.5?

I"m sure this is a dumb question, but here goes. When using the bead locks, does this make the wheel wider than the OEM 8" bead lock capable wheel. I've not seen bead locks up close not sure how they work. Any 37" tire work on these wheels? I've got a Rubicon Extreme Recon on order, want to order the bead locks soon to be ready.

Why not just buy real beadlock wheels instead of the fake (simulated) ones? Or just buy regular wheels if you're worried about the ring on a real beadlock wheel?

I may be wrong, but I believe your tire will be wider than your rim regardless. The idea of a beadlock wheel is your outer tire bead is sandwiched between the ring and the outer wheel. This helps the tire stay on the rim when youre aired down. When youre at recommended psi, its enough to keep your tire on your wheel in the "normal" configuration of both beads inside the wheel. The tire you choose, a wider wheel may be required according to manufacture's specs. Some States ban beadlocks for "on road" use. That being said, many have simulated beadlocks for the look, run beadlocks on a daily driver, wheel hard on weekends with 15 psi or less and many have success with wider tires on stock wheels. Its your Jeep. Do as you like. FYI. I dont have beadlocks, I dont air down past 20lbs and I have 37 X12.5 that calls for a 9in on a 8.5in wheel. I haven't lost a bead on a trail yet. knock on wood. My .02

Great information! Thanks I'm in Colorado, I will check based on your comments to see if bead locks are illegal on the road.

Correction, after a bit of research myself.....States (at least here) don't have laws against Beadlocks. Companies putting out beadlocks have marked their products for "off road use only" as their product doesnt meet DOT guidelines or as a blanket CYA. The chances of getting a ticket for beadlocks in unlikely unless an accident was deemed caused because one had beadlocks. I doubt Mopar is putting out wheels that say "Offroad use only". I could be wrong........

they are real beadlock wheels but you have the option to also have the simulated ring if you so choose. Great wheels, looks great on the JL and are made by Mopar, the same company that mfg the rest of the components in your rig…
