SO I am a bit confused by the jeep build site.
I was going to order but my build keeps topping out over 70K My first house was only 50K my viper was only 54K Yeah I am old. Don't rub it in getting old ain't for sissies

I have always ordered a top of the line rubicon
Now I am looking at something less
It seems like all these models are freedom, altitude, etc are mostly decals and stuff
I looked at the Willys that seems like it might work

what I am looking for at a min is
extreme recon package 35s and 456 gears
at least a rear locker,
cold weather package and Leather
fulltime 4 whl dr
aux switches and tow package

I don't know if I can get leather on the Willys?
I don't think I can get the recon package on the Sahara
I don't think I can get either of those on the sport
I don't know what other offroad stuff I can get on the Willys like the disconnect sway bar etc.
I don't know if I can get the power one-touch roof on the Willys?

So If I went this way I am thinking, I would nix the steel bumper package and go aftermarket winch and rear bumper Suggestions for that?

Appreciate your help!!!!

Have you checked out the spreadsheet in my sig? You might be able to cut enough off the price to justify getting what you really want.

Yeah, I'm old like you - paid 60K for my first house. This fact somehow contributed to price capping myself.

Add in the overwhelming level of electronic complexity on high end models, I opted for a Sport. Starting at 35K I can add 30-40k of mechanical extras minus some of the electronic nannies.

However, I understand everyone has different wants and needs and the "Jeep Community" has greatly expanded demographics since the 1960's when my parents were members of the Fresno Four Wheel Drive Club and there were only CJs

As for the steel bumper group: If the back bumper wasn't problematic, rubbing the body and driving bolts into the bottom quarter panels when dragging it across something. Or if you could order just the front bumper (but you can't - but you can buy a take off later) - then yeah. But for the price they are asking for the Bumper Group, you can easily do better aftermarket.

However, if you trade-in often and address those rear bumper bolts from the inside and clearance the bumper at the body, I would think stock steel bumpers would command a few extra dollars at trade-in over after market bumpers.

You must be adding a bunch of stuff, I just built out your bare minimums on jeep's site on a rubicon and it only came out to 62k, so how are you adding another 8k in stuff?

You can't get a locker on anything but a rubicon. You may want to stop in to a dealer and have them build it out with you on their computer.

I like my jeeps loaded so for this one if I can swing it it will have leather. Heated seats aux switches. Tow. Extreme recon with 35 and 456 gears full time 4whl drive
8.4 screen and nav led lights steel. Bumper snd. 1 touch sunroof. Which I didn’t think I would want but after seeing it in person. Hell yes
this will
Likely be the last new vehicle I ever buy so why not?

If you want a built-out Jeep consider buying it through an AEV-certified dealership. Not cheap, but no worries about the various upgrades screwing with each other. Everything's covered by the 3 year 36k warranty. https://www.aev-conversions.com/vehicles/jl-wrangler/

And, of course, see the spreadsheet in my sig for dealerships across the country below invoice.
