I am planning to buy my wrangler sometime around July, just wondering on that timeframe, when would be the best time to start talking to dealers and getting it ordered if I want it in July?

It is going to vary based on what you order. Some options have been taking longer to get delivered than others, the belief being certain options are holding certain builds up. But I think for the most part the time difference for most people is 2-3 weeks, with a couple of exceptions. When I ordered, my dealer told me it would be about 6-8 weeks, which is what actually happened. Depending on how far you are from Toledo will affect shipping times also.

Rhew, buy in July and want in July...I think I have no less questions for you than you for me.

It sounds like you need not search dealers and their inventory for what you want because you are in anything but a time crunch. Accordingly, your play is to factory order your Wrangler from one of the deep discounted dealers in the country, like Koons, who offer 5% (or more) off invoice.

Aside from the cost savings, by factory ordering you don't pay for features you wouldn't have chosen, nor do without the ones you wish came with your rig.

By analogy, you're planning a trip to Aruba next Christmas. Do you buy the plane tickets way in advance to save $, or do you pay top dollar a week before for convenience acting on something last minute you knew of months prior?

Am I missing something about your circumstances?

I plan on ordering my Jeep and would like it to be delivered sometime in July. I plan on waiting for then because I have a pretty substantial bonus from work coming that month. Yes I do plan on trying to find a dealer around me that will sell at a price similar to Koons, if not Koons themselves. My main question was when to order if I want it here in July, sorry if I worded weird.

Dealers will tell you it takes about 8 weeks for the Jeep to arrive. I ordered on 9/27 with production starting on 10/29. My Jeep arrived on Nov 27th so it only took a month. There are people who waited several months before their Jeeps arrived so it's hard to give you a date/month to order and have it by July. I would order end of May/beginning of June but don't get your hopes up high to have it by July.

It is tough to say. There have been people that received their jeep within 3 weeks of ordering and people who have waited 6+ months.

I would say order in May. If it shows up early, tell the dealer you will be in in July. They will have your deposit so it shouldn't be an issue.

I am one of those who ordered Oct. 9, Jeep was built around Dec. 14, and was just told (about 20 minutes ago) to expect delivery mid-Jan. My suggestion is to order early to mid April if you want to make sure it will be there in July. If you are ok with a good chance of waiting, then order later.

Just out of curiosity, what did you order and what options. I guess there is some truth that some options take longer than others.

The only chosen options are what was in my sig: JLR, 8 speed auto, black paint, black hard top (not body color), steel bumpers, leds. I wouldn't have thought that there was anything special about these options. Maybe if I had optioned it more so they could make more off of me, it would have made my Jeep more of a priority. The part that I don't get is how a Jeep in D1 (parts allocated and awaiting scheduling for build) can go back to D status.
