Always kills me when I read an ad that says something like In Texas won't ship...or In California must pick up...I live in a small state ie Montana where it is over 700 miles across and both Texas and cali are bigger......are people scared to list a town or zip code? just wondering lol......I know some are paranoid about listing their license plates....

I have a free oil filter in CA if you want to come get it. Pretty sure it’s for a Jeep. Head this way and I’ll text you my address when you’re close.

I agree but can’t resist…cause you know…first world problems and all

totally agreed that the zip is super helpful.

You made me go and check my latest listing before posting this, because my memory is terrible and I couldn’t remember if I had added it this time 🤣

Maybe just try sending the seller a PM for a zip code. They get to remain relatively private and you possibly get the information you need.
I don’t know, maybe I’m overthinking it.

What if you came to my ZIP code and then started searching for a Gobi JLUXR. Then you might follow me home and steal my take off stock plastic bumper if you knew I had one sitting around!! Safety first I always say.

Really if you are worried about people finding you, and you live in a small town that the ZIP might narrow down too much, you should at least be able to put the county.

I've always put my approximate location, pretty close to where I live when I list something for sale here, or elsewhere.

As far as license plates, I don't care if they get in a picture or not. Hundreds of people, and countless cameras can see it anytime I drive anywhere that requires me to go more than a few miles. Privacy, for the most part, does not really exist anymore, unless you live like the Unibomber did.

Any item(s) that I won't or can't ship are listed for sale locally as a matter of personal policy. In that instance, town names and not zip codes are used.

Only those things that can be shipped in a reasonable manner are posted for sale on forums like this one. All I need is the recipient's CONUS mailing address via a PM. Thus again, I don't need to disclose my zip code, nor do I need yours until we settle things in a private message. Done. 👍

It's an effective M.O. that avoids having to attach usurious postage costs to the items' prices, while concurrently allowing me to control how much personal information is provided, and to whom. Having been the victim of identity theft, trust me when I say it's not something to take lightly.

Yeah some folks are pretty skittish. Wonder what they think about Elon's team of 20 year olds getting their zip code and more. LMAO. We lost a big portion of privacy long ago, and these modern jeeps....... It is comforting to be on the back side of life's mountain.
