I just took delivery of a 2024 Willys 4xe. I had the dealership swap my 35” KO2 tires and Method Racing 18” rims. Immediately the TPMS weren’t working, and the backup sensors weren’t working either. After 3 trips to the dealership, I was told that the 2024 computer system would not read the TPMS and that the larger tire was interfering with the backup sensors. This is new with the 2024’s.

Anyway, I had them put the stock 33” KO2s back on. I’m looking for advice on a wheel/tires that I could upgrade to, as the stocks just aren’t doing it for me.

If the tpms aren’t working then they are using the wrong ones. And was the 35”rear tire touching the bumper ? Or extending past it? I would think it would set off the back up sensors and not stop it from working.
Something isn’t jiving

You'll need to swap TPMS to the 35 or get newer sensors. They made a change in 21 I think. For the backup sensors, I would think you'll need a different tire carrier or rear bumper that factors in the larger tires.

The TPMSs are throwing me off bc they’re what I had on my 2021 Rubi 4xe.
Any recommendations on tire carrier? Wren I ordered the 2024 I added tailgate reinforcement with the build.

Correct. The production demarcation date to remember is 7th June 2021. Vehicles built before that date will require different TPMS sensors than will those built after that date. The decal on the driver's door jamb will provide the necessary intel.

Thank you! I’m guessing a different spare tire holder is the most economical way to go.

I upgraded my 2024 Sahara right after delivery with 35s and used the Quadratec spare tire relocation kit.

Others have had issues with the backup sensors constantly alerting after increasing tire size, and we were able to solve it by placing some clear packing tape on the bottom side tread on the spare.

So I’m correct…you used the relocation system along with packing tape?

I'm not 100% but even though you have tailgate reinforcement, you may still need a tire relocation carrier for a larger 35" tire. There are plenty on the market, some under $100.

If your '21 Rubi was made before June 2021 the tires have the older TPMS sensors that will not work with any JL made July 2021 or later. You just need a set of new TPMS sensors.
