Exactly: recommends.

Alternatively, if you look at generic lug torque spec for 14mmX1.5 the recommendation is 85-90 ft/lbs.

So ya, me keeping my 110 does not make me a criminal or some one who should not wrench, just make me some one who have a broader view than the owner manual. So much that I have followed dana recommendation for diff oil and put 75w140 in my diff against the owner manual recommending 75w85.
Just because I’m a shit stirrer…if I remember right, my Ford F250 had 14x1.5 wheel studs with a lug nut torque spec of 150 to 165 foot pounds 🤷

Hey forum is for discussion, not much discussion to have if we all have the same opinions ;)
So now I'm curious did you follow it ?

Yes, 99% of the time, i mindlessly follow factory torque specs. I’m not an authority on anything mechanical and I don’t have experience beyond home garage repairs so it’s easier for me that way.

I usually do, in this particular case I torq everything at 110, it is a happy middle between all the passenger vehicle I have touch over the year without me going out of my way each time to check the spec for this particular one, you know multiple vehicles with winter and summer tires.

So just for conversation sake, how do you feel having 5 X 130 Ft/lbs lug nut holding the tire but only 3 X 74 Ft/lbs holding the hub bearing to the axles :)

I keep a torque cheat sheet with my torque wrenches in the garage and anther one in the Jeep with its own torque wrench. It saves me time and thinking rather than just doing. I don’t know enough to know the specific whys of torque. I imagine the grade and size of hardware and in what setting and with what other parts they are used comes into play. Again I’m no expert and I’m not trying to sound like one.

I usually not carry my torque wrench in the jeep. I check my torque when I get in specific especially when gasket are involved. I guess it show that 2/3 of my mechanic life I was not having access to a torque wrench.

Or that I carry too much stuff…for the “just in case” that will probably never happen. I have the Cargo Dog rear storage instead of the back seats which leads to carrying too many tools.

It takes a pretty good size guy to break 130 ft/lbs loose with those little lug wrenches that are included with Jeeps.
Agree 100%, and even 90 lb-ft can be challenging with the crappy little wrench that comes with the Jeep. For this reason, I carry a telescoping breaker bar when venturing off road or on long road trips. Another option would be a 3-4' length of steel pipe that can slip over the end of the wrench and provide more leverage. Either are cheap and easy ways to make the job SO much easier and faster.

Yep. Great truck. Torque converters are a known issue though. Feels like driving on rumble strips when it starts going. Electric thermostats are another. Three of us drive them at work. All of us had the thermostat fall in less than 80k. Pita to change. $300 part.

I like the red
