I think what I need is a wheel spacer because I want a wider base look so that the tires stick out of the fenders a little bit. Is that the only way to accomplish this? Will a lift do this or does a lift only raise the Jeep? I saw a youtube video from @Dangitbilly and he has a good review of his 1.5" hubcentric spacers. Is 1.75" too much? Is there a norm? I'm planning to use the stock tires for now. Is there anything else I need to know regarding spacers?

I've read that over time that it can add wear on the Jeep but, I've also read that it will happen regardless. It will just happen a little faster with the spacer.

I'm looking at https://www.extremeterrain.com/coyote-billet-aluminum-hubcentric-wheel-spacers-175in-0717.html unless someone has a better recommendation.

It says it's made for a JK but it will fit a JL.

I have spidertrax 1.75 on mine. They look good i think. Im not sure about those coyote ones, if they are for a jk the bolt pattern will fit fine but the lugnut thread is different i believe.

Same here. Check out the spidertrax spacers. 1.75” is not too much. Just right with stock wheels and 315/70’s, imo.

Here’s a pic before I removed the plastic fender pieces. But it’ll give you a good reference for the stance with the spacers.

@EMJeep, were the 1.75" spacers necessary for the stock wheels and your 315/70s or just for look? I'm looking at 315/70s(35"s), but keeping my stock Rubi wheels as well. I can't seem to find if the 17x7.5 wheels need the spacers or not.

It may not be necessary for your rubicon. Longer axles than my sport. I was rubbing on that plastic bumper piece that sports have. Added spacers, lost the rub. Then decided to take off the plastic pieces.

You would definitely be able to test drive that tire size before committing to the spacers.

Thanks for the info.
Idk what the plastic bumper piece is though. Do you mean an actual piece of the front bumper or something else in the wheel well?
And I can't find specs online for Sport vs Rubi axle lengths, only the fact I have the Dana 44s which are beefier.

I'm only concerned about all of this due to Pennsylvania only allowing .25" wheel spacers and so far companies have only made 1.75" wheel spacers for the JL :(

The plastic piece is only on sport models. The euro looking piece that connects the front bumper to the front fenders. They’re removable. Sahara and rubicon don’t have them.

I’m fairly certain that I’ve seen plenty of rubicon owners on the forum that have run 315/70’s with no lift, no spacers, and no problems. Maybe try a search for rubicons with 35’s and no lift. There’s a thread around here somewhere. Too bad about Pennsylvania law..

Okay, I know what you're talking about with the bumper piece :like:. I didn't have to begin with, but I also have an aftermarket steel bumper anyways.

I have the Teraflex 1.5" lift, so I'm good with height clearance. I'll be sure to look for behind the tire clearance with the 35x12.5x17 tires I'm looking at.

If possible i would recommend replacing your factory rims with something that has the backspacing you are looking for to get the tire out look before using spacers. If that is not in the budget then spacers will work you just have to make sure they are put on properly, torques properly and then rinse and repeat about 100 miles later.

Whatever spacer you plan on going with just make sure it's manufactured in the USA. Don't cheap out on wheel spacers. Spidertrax and Synergy seem to be the top players. I ran spidertrax on my JK for a while with zero issues.

The rubicon axles are 3” wider than the sport and Sahara equivalent D44. That’s like adding a 1.5” spacer on a sport/Sahara.

The plastic piece sport owners run on doesn’t exist on the Rubicon.

You don’t need spacers for anything on a rubicon other than appearance.
