Something is wrong if it is not activating the second stage. You probably just haven’t noticed.
I was thinking that you were the odd man out. I'm pretty light on the gas pedal, don't watch the oil pressure gauge continuously and had only observed 30/32 psi with my 3.6. Got it out this afternoon for the first time in a week and decided to, at least in my case, prove you wrong. But, sure enough, at around 3,000 rpm the oil pressure jumped up to 78/80 psi. It falls back to 30 psi as soon as the rpms drop. It's nice to learn something new about the jeep. :like:

Thanks,
Johnny

@mwilk012 - I stand corrected, I kept the oil pressure gauge on the screen and intentionally revved past 3K and sure enough 40, 45, 55, 65...

Thanks for the info!

Sounds normal to me! 2 stage oil pumps are standard across most (American at least) modern engines. They do add an additional failure point but lucky for us, an oil pump is incredibly cheap and easy to install on the chrysler 3.6.
