Maybe I've been under a rock for too long, but pricing out a new Wrangler, I see you can no longer get the 3.6L V6 with the 8 speed auto trans. The pricer forces the 2.0L I4 on you if you want the auto trans.

When did that happen?

Best,

I'm not seeing that, looks like 3.6L eTourqe gets the automatic with no problem.

I just built a 2024 Rubicon X with the 3.6 (no eTorque which is a good thing in my opinion) and 8spd Auto. What model were you trying to build? Maybe it was a glitch and you just need to start over...?

I don't see the eTorque with the 3.6 Auto...

Yep, my bad. That was on the 2023 build webpage. Don't know why Google took me there first?

I just went through the configurator and it allowed a v6 w/auto for the Rubicon but Willys and Sports could only get the automatic with the 2.4.

Seems that not all models offer a 3.6 auto from what I see with the configuration pages. Jeep is forcing you to spend more $$ on a higher trim level to get the 8 speed auto with a V6

I am disappointed with the 2024 JL lineup. I cannot get the configuration I have now and want: Sahara, V6, auto, Selec-Trac, LSD, rear D44.

If I want a Sahara, I am now forced into the 2.0T, which I don’t want, and forced to give up the V6, the Selec-Trac, the LSD and the rear D44, which I want.

If I want the Selec-Trac, I am forced to get the 4Xe, which I don’t want. If I want the rear LSD I am now forced to get a Willys or a 4Xe, which I don’t want.

In short, Jeep is becoming increasingly heavy handed in pushing us into these very confined configurations. Even if we don’t like them.

I do not know their reasons. It might be to improve their CAFE numbers, to maximize profits, to reduce manufacturing complexity, or some other reason.

Either way, the only way I see them coming out of this rut is if Wrangler sales continue to plummet.

Supply issues. It will probably change in a few months just like it has been.

I first tried to build a Willy's and it wouldn't let me mate the V6 with the auto trans, then I tried to build a Sport S the same way, and again it did not let me choose that option. Didn't try it with a Rubi. Maybe it is only available on the more expensive models.

Best,
-Tim

$52,000 for a two-door Rubicon with a 3.6L automatic and nothing else IS RIDICULOUS!!!

9000 original mile, 2017 two-door Rubicon, front and rear lockers, Dana 44s, sure it's a manual, but that just goes to show that the options are out there for lightly used JKs.
