Hood locks that aren't the type that go through the grill, they are worthless!

Cheap chinese LED headlights that require 7" adapters, junk!!!

Rough Country side steps, ok construction but you lose too much ground clearance.

Stubby antenna, looks cool but way too much signal loss.
I have same problem with stubby antenna loosing reception. Any suggestions on better alternative?

If we are digging up an old thread - painted roll bar speaker grills. At least with the bikini its too dark and not really noticeable at all. I love my distinction applied windshield bumpers and steering wheel trim but the speaker trim wasn't money well spent. I'd say maybe my other would be my bumpers. I do love my reaper bumpers BUT then at Jeep Branson saw a company that makes some really nice looking custom bumpers and I could have done something more thematic and personal to my jeep but im not spending the money to do it all over.

I'm glad this thread got resurrected. We should keep it going.

For me: Synergy HD Drag Link and Tie Rod. Absolute clunky mess. You are supposed to install the tie rod ends offset from one another to prevent clunking, but it is still a disaster.

Some owners have simply cut down the OEM antenna to the length of their choosing, and reattached the ball on top. Others have done the same, and then covered the now-shorter antenna in heat shrink wrap.

The thinking here is that a DIY cut removes just enough length to prevent the antenna from whipping in the wind, while preserving the desired terrestrial radio station reception.

None... but it pays well.
I have a few I've done that will stay... but previous owner did some bling mods I soon removed or replaced.

Bartact red parcord grab handles... clashes with tan interior radical red delete. Also they hang too low for my seated height.

Oracle Lighting rear bumper reverse lights. Too bright for backup cam.

10 inch rubber duck antenna. I did a delete with trail rated badge. Using a hidden antenna similar to the 2024 on up setup.

Weathertech rubber cargo liner. For its price tag a Chinese knock off would fit just the same and save a few duckettes

Two very large band clamps near the bend to the muffler... Haven't gotta clue to what they were for and chucked them.

Wind OR branches. lol

Yeah I just cut my factory antenna after trying a iirc 15”Teraflex brand stubby that …rattled inside. Much worse reception too. Brand new and trashed it. Junk

We had to swap my dad's to a stubby because otherwise it would hit the hard top when suspended from his garage. We had to angle the hoist setup due to their drop down staircase but when they then park the jeep they have to pull in normally and the antenna would hit.

As an aside...does anyone even listen to terrestrial radio any longer?
On Saturday evenings, I'll recurringly tune into The Moth Radio Hour on our local PBS radio station. I'll usually listen to at least one full story.

That's it, in terms of my voluntary use of terrestrial radio.

MP3 playlists have ruined my ability to listen to or even tolerate the inane chatter of DJs. I now also have zero patience for punishingly long commercial breaks. News, weather and everything else I might need to know is easily viewed on a smartphone...just like the rest of you also do.

Interestingly, our local PBS station (which broadcasts The Moth) has the distinction of being the only FM station with consistent and clear reception, despite the use of a 13" stubby antenna on my Jeep.

I am a very long time listener of Prairie Home Companion (since childhood). I miss it every Saturday.

Same annoyances of regular radio...the talking and the advertisements. Talk radio has devolved into 3-5 minute segments. I just can't do it.

First off, great thread. Over the years I've done mods to vehicles that just kinda fell flat. It's nice to hear what things worked out for other people so you don't end up with a bad mod yourself.

As for the topic of the thread. Great call on the 35 x 12.5 tires. I learned that one years ago. On my last Jeep I went with 34's and was completely happy. On my current Ram I went with 35 x 11. Again a great choice, and I'm completely happy with them. You absolutely nailed it with that one.

I had a SpiderwebShade on my last Jeep and was very happy with it. It was blue, so maybe a little easier to see through than black or something, but it did a pretty good job creating shade. It wasn't complete shade like sitting under an umbrella, but it did cut down on the harsh sun, and saved me from having to wear a hat.
That said, it does kinda suck that you can't quickly/easily open it up for full open on overcast days, or at night. I'm kinda torn on the whole shade thing. I liked it, but I can see the negatives too.

I just got a 2 door a few days ago!!! Don't see to many of those around.
Very happy with my 35x11.5 tires also. I don't see the need for 37's on my JLUR. It has a 2.5" JKS lift and they look the right size under it.

Just as FYI, if you ever have reception problems NPR does have an app for your phone. It lets you stream individual programs (so if you like the Moth Radio Hour you can stream whichever episode you wish), the top of the hour newscasts, and at least in my market you can live stream the local NPR station.
