What is this connector

Couple of questions, one a little dumber than the other.

1) First off any idea what this connection is for?

2) Now the dumber questions, what is the little panel called that I removed between the mirror and fender?

I was thinking of mounting my rock lights module / controller in here, hopefully it doesn't get too wet there.

1) I wondered what that connector was, too, when I first removed the cowl. I don't recall what I read it was, but my Jeep didn't have it.
2) Cowl Side Trim Panel, Left (Exact part might be different depending on model)

Now that I know it's called a cowl panel, I found this.

That connector connects to the adaptive cruise control system that is mounted to the rear view mirror on the windshield. If you don't have that option, the cable is just there like yours.

Mm. I wonder if (a) it's a switched 12V that can (b) be used to power unrelated accessories in the absence of the ACC accessory on the vehicle.

Good question, unfortunately I am not the person to handle that. Hopefully someone will chime in.

I would think it would have to be energized by the dealership or using a taser as his car came unequipped with that option.

Definitely possible! I put a fuse tap on the heated seat fuse (F58) to power my KC lights. That fuse has power even though my Jeep has regular seats. Someone should pop those two bolts out on their cowl panel and probe with a test light or voltmeter. I would do it but I have the KC bracket in the way now and don't feel like it .
