Mainly on road but would like to be able todo level 3 trails eventually. ?

I want to upgrade the shocks with the possibility of installing a lift later (maybe)

I was thinking either the Fox 2.0 reservoir or the Fox 2.5 reservoir but go with the plus 2"-3" length.
(Was trying to save buying 2 sets of shocks)
(was thinking 2.5 to accomoadte on road and off road manners.)

It seams like if I went with the longer shocks all I would have todo is add more bump stop to prevent over compression.

Pros or Cons to doing this?
What do you suggest I should do?
2.0 0r 2.5?
What am I missing.

Cheers.

Without a lift you can't take advantage of the extra travel length of the shock, and with the addition of longer bump stops you would also be losing articulation.

Buy and wait or wait and buy.

Yup, the articulation of your springs and shocks need to match. You can't just
extend one of them. Upgrade both at the same time.

The other thing is that your shocks are what limits downward extension and are what holds the springs in place. If you extend your shocks and not your springs, the springs can literally fall off if your axle drops enough.

I'd call that a rather significant con.

Makes sense.
Would it be worth the extra expense to get the 2.5 in your opinion or stick with the 2.0
Would I need to have it re-valved to my application or just use it as it come out of the box.

Thanks

I’m in Ontario Canada and the OF4WD (Ontario federation 4wd) which has a rating system 1-5. So based on that I’m assuming a 3 on mine would be around a 6 on your rating scale.

Any particular reason you’re wanting to go with reservoir shocks?
Not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but the suspension in my new rig (Bilstein 8100s (remote reservoir), AEV lift, 37s) handles washboard roads significantly better than my stock Rubicon did. The additional smoothness is probably due to the 37s, but the tail end of my old rig would periodically walk out to the side, like it wasn't sure where the front end was. Almost as if t was trying to drift on the straights.

If you want a simpler solution, look for an Xtreme Recon takeoff suspension. Longer shocks, springs, and end links that get you about 2" of lift on a 2-door. The control arms are the exact same as the Rubicon's already, so no need to swap them out.
