Yes, checkout Ametican adventure labs, they make a smaller mount, but I think that is for two bags. On my top cargo rack, I cut the dual plastic mount in half and mounted it with no issues.
I have two of the AAL mounts sitting on my garage bench right now, but they are sized for the bigger Packouts. Jtphoto just said that Milwaukee makes smaller sizes of mounting trays, so that is good news, and probably the easiest route.

I need to pick up my 2-door JLR from AAL in a day or so anyway. They are using it for a model to make 2-door JL products. I may just go buy the Packout bag at Home Depot today, then I can take it to AAL when I pick up my JLR and show them where I want to mount it. They could certainly make a mounting tray just for that purpose.

I have several bags for tools and recovery gear, then small pouches inside the bigger bags to organize sets of tools (e.g. 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" sockets, pliers, screwdrivers, Torx sets, etc.) Cheap enough so replacing when the inevitable happens is not a big expense, but they have held up several years now.

I use the translucent totes from Home Depot. These include Road/Recovery, Camp 1 and Camp 2. They are see thru so you know where to look/pack. I'll admit, the see thru was a girls (daughter) suggestion that made a lot of sense. The Recovery box is in the back all the time. Extra tire change stuff is in the under floor storage. That includes an electric impact.

Oh, I forgot. 2 very important bags. #1 Toiletry with a proper "tool" bag. #2 Almost as important, the Doggy treats bag for my friends dogs.

Well I went to Home Depot and bought a Milwaukee Packout bag. And with more sleuthing around while I was there I found the smaller version of a Packout mounting tray and bought that as well. It is the perfect size for the bag. The Packout bag won't be for carrying tools though. It will be my "get home pack" for my JLR. I have a back pack in each vehicle that I can grab at a moments notice if I am ever alone in the middle of nowhere and have to abandon the vehicle. The get home pack has what I need to survive for a week in it. Thanks ScotM.

I'm still looking for a tool bag. The leading contenders are the Voyager tool Roll that Blue Bear posted a link for. https://officialtoolroll.com/products/voyager-roll . And the Welkinland tool roll that I posted a link for in my original post. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BXBVCKPF/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=AKP13UUZZ8CDV&psc=1 The Blue Ridge Overland Gear tool bag is also real nice, but at $190?

Considering the cost of the Overland Gear tool bag, and the cost of the tools that would go in it, I start thinking the Mopar tool kit for $403 isn't such a bad deal after all. I could throw it in the Compass and keep my current tool bag for my JLR.

I'm still interested in seeing more tool bag choices. Thanks everyone.

A tool box.

We added a Jeep Compass for my wife yesterday and I need to make up a tool kit for it. I had thought about just putting the tool kit from one of my Jeeps in the Compass and using this as an excuse to remake a tool kit for my Jeep. I have the tools, or can get them. My question is, what are you using for a pouch or bag to carry your tools in?

I have this one in my Jeep now. It is a nice tool bag, but at $190 it is expensive to buy another one.

I am interested in this one from Amazon. But it may be a little small, and I don't know anything about it..

I would like to know what else is out there. What are you using?

Thank you

I am pretty happy with this setup. It holds a surprising amount of tools and is compact. Covers just about everything you would need minus power tools. Looks like they have an updated design with a large pocket vs the Velcro flaps on the backside of mine. Also it’s not cheap and flimsy like all the tool rolls off Amazon. It’s sturdy and very well made right here in the USA.
