The pro 4XE crowd sure has a lot of hate and anger. This is an opinion thread. The OP is asking for opinions. One persons opinion is no more valid than the others. The OP could read all and make up their mind. Very simple
OP will be reading a lot of nonsense from people that don't know anything about the 4xe

The problem is the people that hate the 4xe have zero clue what they are talking about, but chooses to infest 4xe threads, to regurgitate proven nonsense, which is akin to complaining a diesel Wrangler is stupid because it can't use gasoline.

The 4xe is a premium offering, for people that know what they are buying, there is a lot of benefits over the regular gas Wranglers.

1. Can save money

2. Significantly more power, for cheaper when considering alternatives like $10,000 superchargers

3. Superior handling

4. Quiet AF

5. Cut down 52+ annual gas station trips to a handful.

The 4xe serves a dual purpose, ability to do your short trips in pure electric, or a performance powerhouse.

Only thing I dislike in my new 24 Wrangler Willys 4xe is that the back seats don’t fold all the way down. I think I’ll keep on loving it anyway!

Yeah but I already knew about that when I bought it. Modern diesels man.

I've been planning to do a new intake manifold at 50,000 mi since before I got my Wrangler EcoDiesel. At 100,000 I'm going to do an engine tear down and cleaning.

I just feel bad for anybody who bought into those BS 4XE advertisements from FCA. It's a great vehicle for a very specific set of people In very specific situations. Outside of those people and those situations, it's honestly the worst engine option in the lineup.

You don't have to like it, but facts are facts. ?

Early adopter. Ordered late 2020 and had to wait for the first round to be released. Rumor was the MPG had to be approved so they could print Maroney stickers. No idea if that's true.

There's nothing that I hate about my 4xe. There are a few things that annoy me from time to time.

I like the challenge of seeing how many miles I get out of a tank of gas (yes, with daily charging, still money ahead). FORM annoys me because it screws this up for me.

Yes, I can skip the gas station for months at a time (see above), but I have to open/close the charge door and plug/unplug once or twice a day. This sometimes annoys me in the same way having to wash the same clothes every week annoys me.

I love the power of the engine and battery combo in hybrid mode, but rarely use it because I'm trying to max out miles per tank (see above), and this sometimes annoys me.

The turbo 4 also does not sound nearly as cool as the 3.6 or V8, and probably the EcoDiesel, though I haven't heard one of those. However, driving silent is way cool.

However, on the whole, I love this vehicle, the same way that any of the rest of these folks love what they chose to drive.

Hope you find some of this helpful OP.

Engine tear down ? Hmmm- don’t know if still available but Banks built them Very Strong and Powerful for military applications and the upgrades were available I think.

If you think "lease it then buy it at the end" is good advice, then buying a 4XE is equally good advice.

Pretty much on board with you and your points. As we have hashed out before, I'm in the limited use case group. Anybody who bought without doing their homework and just believing FCA ads is not a very wise consumer, because ads never lie or exaggerate the truth, right? Perhaps it's a life lesson for them. For others, it's a poor (relatively speaking) man's 392.

I think we'll continue to disagree as to whether it's the worst engine option, and that's okay.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but I agree with this 100%.
I have said before and still believe FCA, Jeep, Stellantis have done a very poor job of “describing” the 4xe. Just reading through this thread tells me there are plenty of people that don’t understand its benefits and its drawbacks.
Perhaps that was done purposely in the hope that people will throw money at it thinking its an EV that covers all the bases.

Going to be trading or selling our 2019 Sport S and looking at the Willy's 4xe models. Had no intention of even considering a 4xe until I drove one at the dealership yesterday. Wow! That power in hybrid mode was fun along with how quiet and responsive it was in electric mode. The Jeep also seemed to ride a bit better than our 2019, guessing the extra battery weight factored there.

Coming from an ICE 2019 Sport S -- What am I going to hate? Looks like I lose the under back seat storage space, any other storage I would lose? Most of our trips are short trips that are under our around 20 miles with a trip once a week that would be ~60 miles. From reading it appears that longer trip may help avoid the dreaded FORM? What are some other common complaints or "I really miss..." that I might not be thinking of at the moment?

Also debating leasing as well to take advantage of the $7500 tax credit. What are some good sites/resources to help me get smart on leasing so I don't get bent over going that route?
Hire a broker on Leasehacker and you will get a better deal more than likely then going on your own.

That isn't true at all. The normal 3.6l and the 392 are both fantastic. The singular flaw of the normal 3.6 is stop start, which is an easy disable.
3.6 with e torque is the sweet spot.

It seems silly, but this will probably be the main thing that stops from getting a 4xe. I fold the back seat in my current Sport S a lot. Currently going over in my head how many times I've slid things through that take up the full length and how annoying it would have been had the back area not been level. I typically keep vehicles 5-6 years, so I'll probably go ICE this time around and then look at Hybrid or whatever is out when the next generation comes out. Not the big debate is 2.0t or 3.6. Not going to dare pose that question as they seem even more divided than the ICE vs 4xe groups!

These EcoDiesel vs 4XE fights are hilarious. It's like arguing who bought the bigger pile of shit.

Spoiler: The diesel guys win. At least the 4XE has an outrageously long warranty for when it does break.

Buy the 3.6L non e-torque if you plan on keeping your vehicle for a long time. The 2.0L is significantly harder to work on and sounds like a tractor.

I don't think your seat folding priority is silly at all. It's been highly important to me in every utility/adventure vehicle I've had.
