Just when I thought the decades of poor reliability for jeeps was an exaggeration last night I left my keys in the car. Temp hit low 30.

Got in my car this morning and no start key fob not detected. WTF key was very cold so grabbed spare key inside house and it starts.

I swear I'm not trying to be a smart-ass... but maybe don't leave your fob in the Jeep in the winter? It's like the old joke:

Patient: "Doctor, it hurts when I do this."
Doctor: "Then don't do this."

There is a RFID chip in the nose of the key fob. You can start the vehicle with a dead key fob battery. Press the START/STOP ignition button with the nose of the key fob. Or hold the nose of the key fob very close to the START/STOP ignition button and push the button with your finger.

Batteries don't like cold
True. Technically, the OP's gripe isn't with Jeep, it's with whomever made the CR2032 battery...

Maybe an issue with that fob?

I go camping, often freezing Temps, and never had an issue with the fob. Even when it was -14°f in Utah, slept in a tent. Remote started the jeep (heater turns on auto) and got in there to thaw.

Cold Weather Alert!! .... an iffy/old fob battery will fail to do it's job when the temps drop significantly..

:) :) The point is a car not starting (65k car) cause a keyfob is cold is ridiculous regardless of whether it's the battery or the fob. How many of us ever had a car not start cause the "key" was cold?

In terms of readings a manual you shouldn't need a manual to figure out how to start your car in the cold. Yes, i knew to press the key against the button and guess what it took 5 times of pressing the button with a key to finally get it to start.

Even better how many of us know how to turn the hazard lights on a Tesla Y without googling it?
That sad....and scary in the middle of a heavy rainstorm with 40MPH winds.

You need to have your foot pressing firmly down on the brake pedal ....when you press the end of the fob with the RFID chip, on the start button firmly and depressing the start button fully down. Do this and the JL will start on the first attempt, not after "5 times of pressing the button with a key to finally get it to start."

Whether it is a Jeep, Honda, Chevy, VW or whatever, "an iffy/old fob battery will fail to do it's job when the temps drop significantly.."
