Weird No Start

‘23 392.

Starting about a week ago, once every 4-5 starts, the Jeep doesn’t. Sometimes there is nothing when the button is pushed. Sometimes a click under the hood (like a relay) Some times a brief Rrrr.

Battery voltage is good. All terminals tight. Connections at the starter good. All fuses/relays seated. Wiggled the shifter. Doesn’t make a difference. Everything powers up normally, no warning lights.

If I “key off” and open the door to shut all the way down and try it again, fires right up.

Any ideas? I don’t want to take to to the dealer to leave it for the day and have the, say it wouldn’t act up for them, because it probably won’t.

Sorry I'm no help on this, but IF you could ONLY leave it for ONE day that would be amazing. You can make an appointment for them to look at it in 2 weeks and they keep it.

Test your fob battery, could be that. Try your other fob for a week or so.

I'll try pushing the button with the fob until I get home and see what happens. Good idea.

Update: problem found. Broken starter. Waiting for a tow truck.
