Used to be around the power boat scene in younger days running dual, blown 454's. Always took bets on how many people fall off the docks when we fired up.

We'd go to the top fuel events with a full face gas mask. Then we could stand right next to the dragsters as they ran the engine to adjust the clutch. People next to use would puff out their chests and look at us like we were crazy but nitro-methane creates nitric acid when it hits mucus membranes and they would soon flee.

Back to the OP, my take on the 392 exhaust is that the bypass is normally open and requires engine vacuum to close the valves, so at startup there is quite a bark. Deliberate I think. It's going to work against me if I get a 392 because it needs to mostly look and sound the same as my current Jeep so that other parties don't notice that the Jeep has been upgraded. Not sure how I will explain needed to stop every two hours at a gas station.
