So I didn't know what section to post this, so I figured post it here...
The attached picture shows an extension piece that is bolted to the frame. I remember reading about it on the gladiator forum, but can't remember what this piece is.
Does anyone know what this piece is for and if I can just take it off? It is a 2022 JLU High Tide.

It was added to reduce the risk of rollover in passenger side impacts. People remove it because it hangs down, I figure you are asking for an insurance nightmare in an accident But if all your Jeep does is wheel then up to you.

I wonder if you can make some sort of quickish release for off-road?

So you have less stuff to take off after you buy it.
