Weekend warrior build help!

So I am a typical weekend warrior with my Jeep. Off roading most every weekend and then commuting on the road all week for work. Sometime in town and sometimes out of town. And then during hunting seasons I will off road for a good solid 2-3 weeks for deer and elk.

As of now I have the 2” mopar lift with the stock 33” tires. I am ordering Black Rhino overland wheels and I m trying to decide if I should keep my tires or move to to 35”.

I am considering keeping my stock set up and putting studs in for winter and then running 35” the rest of the year on new black rhino wheels.

What do you guys suggest?

You probably won't like my post. I'm probably old enough to be your grand and certainly your father. I've wasted more money that I want to think of on ego and testosterone. A stock Rubi JLU in the hands of a skilled driver will do more than a huge majority of JLU owners will ever attempt. I know our Rubi will do more than our lifted Toyota FJ40. Just stick with your 2" ego lift and the stock 33" tires.

I've never been in your neck of the woods, but I do know there is some rugged country. Don't know what you've been driving to hunt and wheel, but just two questions, did it serve you well? And was it less or more capable than your JKU?

Do yourself a favor and buy a new hunting rifle. It'll be a lot cheaper than wheels and 35s!

Since you already have the 2'' Mopar Lift, a set of 35's with you new wheels would look great. A lot of forum members have had good luck selling their take-offs, just make sure you are reasonably priced.

There is a lot of merit with learning the capabilities of your stock Jeep, then addressing the week points or areas of improvement for the trails you will typically run.

I know this is an old thread, but what did you end up going with? I am new to the Jeep community and am looking for something similar.

I rode my 33's hard till they were pretty worn (25k miles with half pretty rough miles on trails) then went with 35X12.5 nitto ridge grapplers. The 33's had more road life left but not much trail/mud life so I pulled the trigger on the 35's. The 35's are great for me as I still use my vehicle to commute and didn't want to regear.

I've owed 27 Jeeps of all models and manufacturers. Only a couple of CJ'7's have I spent $$$ doing Off Road "stuff". Most of the others including Wagoneers have done just as well as the modified Jeeps ! Unless you mean to try climbing the Devils Tower with your JLUR as stock you should be able to do everything you need. If you're a bit careful youmight even take a shot at Devils Tower...ahhh kidding, I think the park rangers might disapprove! LOL

If you wanna look gung ho that's a whole different story! I think the new rifle sound perfect! Have fun whatever you decide.

I never bought new wheels. Just did a little more tire when they were ready to be switched.

ehhh, 35s will give you another inch of clearance.
If I had a stock Rubicon with a 2" lift, I would upgrade the garbage components in the front end before going to 35s.
Spend the money on steersmart Yeti XD kit and some LCAs, and a falcon SS, make it better than stock, both on road and off, use up those 33s and move to 35s in a few years when you need new rubber.

That is what I would do personally.

Or save all the money and use it stock
