Hey everyone.

So sorry if this has been asked in the past.

If you have a 2018 JLUR, and drive half the year with no doors and no top. From time to time hit a serious shower and the electronics are a little wonky after the rain, is that warranty-able?

I was under the impression the JL and all electronics were water resistant. Should this be brought up to the dealership or does the water meeting electronics void any warranty? Do you mention rain meeting U-Connect?

Asking for a friend.

Mention, no. Try, why not. Put the doors and top on before you pull in.

Edit: and unmarry your Tazer.

And things like this only make me less tempted to take my more overland setup/modified hardtop off to be an around town Jeep for a few days. It would be my luck…

Where did you get that impression from?

This is why I got the soft top

soft top doors on atleast keeps the dash mostly dry

So those drain plugs mean that the electronics are water resistant or could they mean for a few inches in the footwells/cubby?
It’s a vehicle designed to have the top off, doors off, is rated for a water depth, and has drain plugs inside.

get out of here with it being unreasonable to expect some water resistance on the interior electronics.

I’m pretty damn sure there were some measures put in place for water intrusion on the dash electronics.

It makes zero sense that jeep designed it for a literal hose in the interior but took no measures to protect the electronics from water.

“hey jeep owners, you can spray your interior down with 60psi of water, but just make sure you only get the carpet and don’t let a drop of it splash on the dash, because the physics of spraying water works like that”

I truly don’t mind it all getting wet. Just the electronics acting weird.
The drain plugs work great.

I thought I read it years ago that when Jeep launched the JL, they accounted for rain on the u-connect.
To be honest, I'm pretty sure I've seen a video of someone using a hose on the UConnect. Lol. As an electronics tech, I certainly wouldn't be doing that.
