I added the Rough Country rear bumper with built in tire carrier. I didn’t care for the coating so I sanded it down and re coated it. Since I’d sanded it down I’d added some flush mount LED pods to the rear bumper. I wanted to be able to have them trigger when going in reverse as well as manually turn them on so this is what I did.
I tapped into the reverse wire on the drivers side tail harness. I soldered in a diode that only allows power to travel one way to prevent back feeding the bcm when manually turning them on ( may not have been required but I felt better doing it ) this goes to trigger the relay to turn on.
I then tapped into the rear 12v cargo outlet to power the relay that 12v outlet is on its own 20a circuit I tucked the relay inside the tail light area out of the way.
the second wire ( to manually power the lights) comes from the voswitch box under the hood and is in loom under the Jeep to the rear tail light area
This is a pretty sweet setup to not have to run a million wires through the firewall it’s nice neat and all contained 8 30 amp relay’ed circuits
While I didn’t need 8 it will allow adding whatever else down the road with minimal wiring
The switch bank is illuminated and allows to be hot all the time or only on acc ( simply flipping a toggle on the circuit board in box under hood) bonus it includes 2 1” ball mounts and one cell holder..
